LAELDOR CADRÍ RÍLVENAR
LOYAL • KIND • FAIR [/center]
basics.
Full Name: Laeldor Cadrí Rílvenar
Age: 27
Birth Date: 10 / 13 / 7858 AC
Gender: male
Species: elf
Sword Name: Kveykva
Canon or OC: original
appearance
Height: 6'2
Weight: 137 lbs.
Build: Tall and slender
Hair Color & Style: Blonde, kept medium length and straight.
Eye Color: Blue/Green
Other: Gedwëy ignasia on right palm
Play-By: Luke Worrall
First Impression: Laeldor is tall, even for elven standards. That's probably not the first thing you'd notice about him, though. He has an ethereal quality about him and his movements that catches the eye to certain gestures. The childish sheen of energy around him is just beginning to fade with age, making his very skin appear luminescent. His vibrant blue-green eyes are framed by lashes a few shades darker than his blonde hair and appear to be open and honest, though he very rarely smiles before introductions are made. At first glance, he might be caught singing to the trees around him, though his strict training schedule doesn't leave room for such things anymore. Most likely, Laeldor would be seen in traditional elvish clothing with a sword strapped to his back, going about his training without really noticing how the humans stared.

Personality: Ever since they were very young, Laeldor has been nearly the exact opposite of his twin sister, Eilithwyn, in many ways. He is thoughtful and careful in what he does, always thinking of others and how his actions will impact the world around him. He is kind in most situations unless someone gives him a reason not to be. Even then, he will show kindness as long as he can. Should he be confronted with someone who had done wrong, he would still be nice to them and wish they would see the error of their ways on their own. If forced to punish someone, he wouldn't linger but carry out sentence as swiftly as possible to avoid cruelty.
Laeldor is honest. He doesn't believe any good can come of lies, no matter how small. His honesty is also a reflection of his comfort with his own nature. He doesn't believe he can feel anything that would be shameful enough to hide. Therefore, he is open and doesn't embarrass easy. He is a firm believer that if he feels something or thinks something, he is only being true to his nature and shouldn't hide that. Because of that, he has trouble understanding others who hide themselves from others.
Laeldor is trustworthy. While he doesn't understand people who lie or keep secrets, that doesn't mean he can't keep them to himself. If someone tells him something in confidence, rest assured that it will be taken to his grave unless he's given leave to share the information. He won't like it, but he won't betray someone's trust, even an enemy if he's given his word. Getting him to agree to keep his enemy's secrets, however, would be extremely hard.
It's fairly easy for Laeldor to make friends. His outgoing nature and readiness to strike up a conversation combined with his ability to be a good listener attract people to him. The fact that he was an alluring elf child also played it's part, but it's Laeldor's personality that keeps his friends coming back to him.
It might seem like Laeldor has everything figured out, but he really doesn't. He tries to do what is best, but most of the time he is unsure of his actions or what the right path is for him to take. This leads to him being very thoughtful. He might take what seems like forever to make a decision about something important to him. This doesn't mean he is unintelligent, but he likes to make informed decisions and to think things through before acting.
Laeldor's kindness isn't eternal. Underneath the careful thought and desire not to do harm, is a temper that's hard to match. It's very, very difficult to spark that temper, but once aflame, will burn as hot as the sun. He will definitely make his feelings known on the matter, and can hold a grudge as long as need be if he feels as though he's in the right. Though even in the depths of anger, he is very conscious that some words can't be taken back and some actions can't be undone. Even at his most enraged, he is careful.
Laeldor loves his training in Illirea. He wants to learn as much as possible so he can make better decisions and hopefully make the world a better place. He likes the idea that he's making himself stronger both mentally and physically.

Birthplace: Nädindel
Mother: Sídelm (271)
Father: Galear (392)
Sibling(s): Eilithwyn (27)
Other Relations: Anyone from House Rílvenar
History: Laeldor was born to Sídelm and Galear on October the thirteenth along with his twin sister, Eilithwyn, while residing in Nädindel deep in the forests of Du Weldenvarden. The news of their birth was widely celebrated since so few elf children existed. It was into this celabratory air that Laeldor was raised. Both he and his sister were taught by a number of elves and it was something Laeldor enjoyed. He liked to be around new people and to interact with them. The special connection, though, was with Eilithwyn. From birth, he'd always thought of them as two halves of a whole, each complimenting and balancing the other. Laeldor would often follow her around in her wanderings, feeding off her curiosity which only fed his own desire to see all there was to see.
Laeldor learned at a young age that there was plenty of time for things. The city, the people, the forest itself seemed to move in slow motion. If there was a task to be done, the elves in the city went to work assiduiously, but without rushing. They had an eternity. Laeldor also learned to think before he spoke. Not only for Eilithwyn's benefit, but because grudges could be held for centuries. While anyone was unlikely to hold a grudge against a child, it was a habit he fell into and simply never changed. His elders said it was good practice.
Growing up, he never heard Eilithwyn's voice except within his own mind. She had no desire to speak out loud, and Laeldor acted as her voice without thinking much about it. It wasn't an oddity. It simply was. The two were about as connected as they could get. He'd even woken nights, certain that he'd shared his dreams with his sister. Later, he would give it a little thought, but no more than that. It was the natural way of things between the siblings.
Laeldor grew up in privelage. Not only because he was an elven child, but because House Rílvenar was a Royal House. Anything he wanted, he was likely to get, though he didn't abuse those gifts. He learned to be polite to everyone he met because it made dealings much smoother, though in the back of his mind, he knew he could get away with just about anything and be forgiven.
At the age of twelve, the eggs came. Laeldor had always been fascinated with the Riders, enjoying fantasies about being one of them some day. He never thought it would happen, however, so it wasn't really a dissappointment when none of the eggs hatched for him. The people left with those beautiful eggs with promises to return. That time came when he was sixteen, then again when he was twenty. That's when his entire world changed.
The moment that beautiful egg started to shake, Laeldor was entranced and more deeply honored than he could have expressed. In a moment that felt like forever in an instant, he reached out and touched the tiny green dragon, forever marking him as a Dragon Rider. The gedwëy ignasia on his palm itched and burned, but that didn't last long. Still, he couldn't stop rubbing it as if it might come off. The entire moment was surreal, and so was the new thread of consciousness that blossomed inside his mind. His dragon.
Laeldor and Eilithwyn made their way back to their room with Dhevron tucked safely in Laeldor's arms. He didn't think he'd be able to sleep, but Dhevron's exhaustion was contagious. Feeling as though the entire day would be a dream, he drifted off to sleep with his dragon still curled in his arms.
Over the next few days, Laeldor could see a change in Eilithwyn. She was more distant from him than usual. At first, he'd thought that the new bond with Dhevron had somehow made her voice quieter, but that wasn't it at all. She was deliberatly keeping certain thoughts from him and he didn't understand why. He was excited about his upcoming training and thought she should be excited for him. She was, in part. It was the other part that he didn't know. It was the first time he could remember not knowing something about her and the distance pained him, but no matter how concerend he felt, Eilithwyn wouldn't tell him what was bothering her. Was it Dhevron? It seemed the only explanation. But why was she not coming with him to Illirea? Somehow it was all connected.
It wasn't long before it was time for them to part ways. While Laeldor was still excited about training, his worry for Eilithwyn had increased. He'd managed to work out that she was headed to Ellesméra, but still didn't know why. He didn't even know whether it was her choice or if she was being made to go. When Dhevron had hatched, he'd assumed that Eilithwyn would be going with him to Illirea. It cut him deeply that they wouldn't be staying together. They were twins. Two halves of a whole. They were supposed to stay together.
Laeldor remembers the next few moments as if they were burned into his memory. Dhevron was standing slightly behind him, Eilithwyn in front of him. The elves around her were trying to pull her away. Elves who'd help to raise them both, and they were trying to separate them. He knew what was going to happen a moment before it did, but he didn't try to stop it. Eilithwyn pushed everyone away from her with an unspoken spell and ran to him. He held her tightly, his heart torn between her and his new responsibilities. Dhevron could feel that pain even though he wasn't yet old enough to understand the source of it. Laeldor could feel it all. Eilithwyn's pain, Dhevron's pain and anxiety over Laeldor's own pain and anxiety. The feelings fed on each other, but Dhevron was the first to pull himself out of that vortex. Being the dragon that he was, his instincts told him that if something was causing himself or his Rider pain, he should end it. A tiny growl rumbled out of him; a reflection of the anger at whatever was causing these feelings.
Laeldor knew he had to go. He hated it, but he knew he had to go. Feeling more torn than ever, he released Eilithwyn and turned toward Dhevron, trying to reassure him that all was well. He tried to reach out to his sister with his mind, wanting that contact with her for as long as possible, but the moment he felt her viscious anger, he pulled away from her slightly, appalled. He watched with a broken heart as she started to walk away. When she spoke, however, he froze in shock. He'd known she was capable of it, but he also knew she simply didn't want to speak. That she had spoke volumes of how their relationship had changed. In that moment, he almost went to her. He was almost willing to give up going to Illirea - had he been allowed to - to go comfort her and try to get things back the way they had been. He knew what he had to do, though. She was stronger and more capable than people gave her credit for. They would both survive separation and would reunite stronger than ever. I will miss you, sister. He didn't even know if she heard him.
Illirea was just as beautiful as he'd heard it would be and his training began almost immediately, though he began with a heavy heart. His thoughts would constantly turn toward Eilithwyn and what she was doing. It happened so often that Dhevron often became frustrated. Not by the lack of attention really. But because this one little elf caused his Rider such unease. Dhevron also became frustrated by what he learned in Laeldor's memories. Dragon and Rider often had long discussions about Laeldor's childhood and what it was like growing up in Du Weldenvarden, but Laeldor wouldn't or couldn't see his sister's cruel nature. Dhevron gave up trying to make him see it.
Laeldor, meanwhile, was certain he knew his sister better than anyone, including Dhevron. Despite the disagreements on certain points, Laeldor and Dhevron were inseperable and as different in personality as they could get. They complimented each other in this way, though. Where Laeldor was thoughtful and kind, Dhevron was impulsive and quick to anger. It made Laeldor loathe to part from his dragon, not just because he felt empty without Dhevron there, but because he thought he truly needed the Dhevron's influence to make better decisions. What if he needed to make a split second decision and hesitated? Likewise, what if Dhevron did something impulsive before Laeldor could reason with him? Learning to be apart from each other was probably the hardest lesson in their training.
Five years into their training, Dhevron tried one more time to reason with Laeldor. The Rider was seated on a balcony on the north side of the city, overlooking the crystal clear waters of Río Ramr. Dhevron lay coiled behind him, eyes closed but mind alert. You must cease pining over what was. When we see Eilithwyn again, she will be a different person. She will have changed, just as we have. Laeldor didn't respond for a moment, knowing where Dhevron was going with his train of thought. He knew things would be different between them just as he knew Dhevron would be pleased if brother and sister weren't as close as before.
After careful consideration, Laeldor answered. She and I are one, just as you and I are one. I could just as soon turn my back on you as her. That didn't please Dhevron at all, who was very territorial of his Rider. Laeldor could feel the anger beneath the calm emerald surface and he tried not to let it bother him. While he was a Rider, he was also a brother. Dhevron, meanwhile, had no loyalties besides those to Laeldor and he resented the bond between the twins. He didn't like that his Rider must be shared. Well, Laeldor didn't much like feeling torn, either.
Dhevron huffed out a breath that very nearly scorched Laeldor's back. She is cruel in nature and you know this.
Not without reason. She's not cruel to those who don't deserve it.
But she savors it when they do.
Like you?
Dhevron had no response to that except to huff one more time. He was a dragon, not an elf, and not subject to their behaviors. The elves Dhevron knew were much more reserved than Eilithwyn. Perhaps reserved wasn't the right word. Gentle. They meted out justice harshly but fairly. Eilithwyn enjoyed it. Though if Dhevron was being honest with himself, he thought Eilithwyn would corrupt his Rider in some way should the two meet again and be as close as they had been. Dhevron could feel Laeldor's desire for reconciliation. Not desire. Need. Laeldor couldn't resign the two bonds he shared until Dhevron and Eilithwyn were at peace. Dhevron knew that and was still uneasy about the prospect. I will try, but only once. If her nature begins to change you, I will do whatever is necessary to save you from yourself. Laeldor merely buried his head in his hands, at a loss of what to do about the two of them.
For the next two years, Dhevron would say no more on the matter, even going so far as to retreat into his own mind when Laeldor began to think of his sister. As soon as they got the chance, Laeldor would seek Eilithwyn out and try to find some truth between the three of them, tough Laeldor already suspected some level of jealousy on Eilithwyn's part just as Dhevron was jealous of Eilithwyn though he wouldn't admit it. Just the passing thought of it caused a rumbling growl in Laeldor's mind. Twisted nearly upside down in his exercises, Laeldor let himself smile just a little. Focus on your own lessons before you fall out of the sky like a rock.
But a pretty rock.

Personality: In one word, Dhevron is stubborn. He is very opinionated about certain matters, and it takes quite a bit of persuasion to make him change his mind once he's focused on a course of action. He will take a cursory glance at a situation, then act with little or no thought. Training has made him think a bit more about his actions and the conscequences of them, but it's still his nature to act first and think second in stressful situations.
This impulsiveness doesn't confine itself to actions, but also to thought. Chances are that if Dhevron has a strong opinion of something, he will share it. This has gotten him in trouble in the past, so he usually only shares his thoughts with Laeldor who then makes the decision to share it or not.
Dhevron can also be very playful when he wants to be, finding it amusing to play tricks on Laeldor, both physical and mental. He likes the idea of hiding his intentions until the last moment and Laeldor agrees that it's pretty good exercise. Dhevron doesn't care about the practical applications too much, though. He simply finds it amusing and it's partly due to Laeldor's amused responses.
Dhevron can also be quite grumpy. This is his natural state of being rather than the playfulness that Laeldor sees. He's not horribly pessimistic, but he's always prepared for the worse possibility, giving him a somewhat grim outlook on things. He has no qualms with making his grumpiness known, either. He'll growl at those who annoy him and not know a second of regret for it. He is a dragon, and therefore awesome. Not many could convince him otherwise.
Lastly, you have Dhevron's natural state as a dragon. He has a different outlook on life from elves and humans. He eats when hungry, sleeps when tired, and has no patience for things he deems uninteresting or unnecessary. The only exception to this rule are those things that Laeldor deems important. Even then, he will pay attention and do what he must only after making his impatience known.
