apperance;;Cayden is 6ft. tall exactly and weighs roughly 180lbs. He grew so fast that people gave up measuring him for awhile. He has tanned skin, thanks to his mother's Cherokee heritage, and is muscular enough for some definition. He keeps his dark hair somewhat long and its usually in his face. He has dark eyes that look almost black which turn a bright yellow when he wolfs-out. He likes wearing dark clothes and has a favorite black leather jacket that he wears whenever the weather calls for it.
His wolf is large and dark gray with no real extraordinary markings. In this form, his shoulder would reach a man's ribcage, and his fur is thick, even in the summer. He retains his muscular stature in this form as well, and is built for strength rather than speed. (link)
personality;;Cayden is a fun-loving kind of guy. He likes to smile and is usually in a good mood when left to his own devices. The closer it gets to the full moon, the quieter and more reserved he gets, because he doesn't want to lash out at people only to regret it later. While he is still somewhat awkward around girls, he doesn't let that stop him from trying. He doesn't exactly show off, but he likes to create a good impression which (more often than not) results in him looking like a fool. He doesn't mind this, either, because he likes to make people laugh even at his own expense.
Cayden is... moody. Depending on who he has been spending his time around, he picks up traits and habits from those people. While this makes it easier for him to blend in with almost any crowd, it can also put him in bad situations. This is especially true when he hangs around his dad too much, or some of the younger wolves in the pack. Really the only people who don't rub off on him are humans. He doesn't go out of his way to spend time with them and tends to hang on to his own traits in those situations because he hides them.
On or around full moons, he gets very temperamental. He sulks most of the time while trying to retain control and remove himself from any situations that would make him snap. But he does have quite a temper. If someone says the wrong thing or does the wrong thing, he will snap. His temper burns hot and fast, only to fade just as quickly. Often, this leaves him feeling guilty, but only after the anger has worn off.
family;;Laura Murphy - Mother (bitten werewolf - presumed deceased)
Henry Murphy - Father (born werewolf)
Carter Murphy - Brother (born werewolf)
Cayden is very close with his family, especially after his mother was supposedly killed by hunters. He knows they are stronger together and being around them (and the pack) is really the only time he feels at home, though his relationship with Henry is strained to say the least. Henry has been increasingly abusive since Laura's disappearance.
history;;Cayden was born the second child to Laura and Henry Murphy, with an older brother, Carter, to look after him. Laura and Henry met when she was twenty five, and the couple was inseparable from what Cayden remembers, but Laura was killed by hunters when he was just seven years old. It was a great loss to him, and Henry was even more broken up over it, retreating off alone more and more often.
After Laura's death, Cayden was pretty much raised by Carter and the rest of the pack, though he did his best to look after his father as much as possible, doing random kind things to try to raise his spirits. At the age of twelve, he finally got up the courage to ask his father if he would ever find another mate, to which Henry replied, "I did find her, son. Now she's just waiting for me to join her." It took him awhile to realize that he meant Laura.
Things were tough for the broken family, and as Henry's mood deteriorated, he began taking his anger and pain out on his two sons. Cayden got the worst of it due to his resemblance to Laura. Henry hated the reminders of what he didn't have anymore. Still, Cayden did his best to earn his father's approval.
At the age of fourteen, Cayden had his first shift. He was at a football game one autumn Saturday night. He was trying his best to stay calm until the game was over, but he was sweating despite the cool temperatures and he was feeling a lot more aggression than usual. It was all he could do to keep his eyes from changing colors and he had to abandon the last quarter of the game. He started running, trying to make it back home before it happened, but he didn't make it. Halfway there, his limbs started shaking and he couldn't hold it back any longer. The pain was intense and he was scared out of his mind. Luckily, Carter had been at the game and saw Cayden run off. Carter caught up to him and stayed with him until it was over, the brothers walking the rest of the way home through the woods as wolves.
Thoroughly freaked out, even though he'd been expecting it, Cayden still didn't shift back the next day. It wasn't until two nights after the full moon that he was calm enough to shift back to human form. In reality, he was just trying to avoid the pain of the transformation, though it didn't hurt as bad as the first time. Cayden was excited that he would no longer be treated as a child, but he was still thoroughly freaked out.
Three years later, the novelty has worn off, but Cayden still thinks being a werewolf is pretty cool. At least until the full moon rolls around since he still can't avoid shifting. Carter advises him to be patient and constantly tells him that control comes with time and practice. Then the pack's Beta, Mason, was killed by hunters, and even Carter had trouble controlling his shift for awhile. It was quite a blow to them all. The upset in the pack had Cayden hanging around some kids from school who don't have the best reputation. He tries to stay out the more extreme misbehavior, but sometimes his curiosity gets the better of him.
Cayden's stopped trying to earn his father's approval and is certain it will never happen. The only thing Henry Murphy has for his son are harsh words. Cayden does his best to ignore it and go about his life as if his father simply didn't exist. Cayden finds comfort in his pack and in his music, even if he hardly ever lets anyone hear it.
