I'm going to be gone from March 7th to March 11th (at least) because I'm taking a trip to Michigan.
There's this online community that I'm a member of that is a fan community dedicated to Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time book series. They also do charitable works for all sorts of programs and one of the ways they do that (that is also super fun for the members) is to have live events. Obviously, there is a cost to attend which is how they raise their money. I've wanted to go for years, and they're finally having an event close enough to me that I can drive there (the last one was on the other side of the country).
Needless to say, I'm attending this year! ;D I'm super excited to go and also super nervous. To those who are cautionary internet people and think traveling to another state to hang out with people I've never met before is a bad idea... I agree. To allay those fears, let me say that (1) it is a very tight knit community, (2) I've already met one member on there who drove five hours just to come to my baby shower, and (3) the administrators of the site have set up a process where anyone attending a live event must be made "real" which means they have to have a phone conversation with a staff member and answer questions to prove that they are who they say they are.
That being said, these events have been going on for a long time and the sub-group that I'm part of (The White Ajah, not that many of you even know what that means) is an even tighter knit group than the site itself. Those women are my sisters and I trust them. They are an amazing group of people and I'm dying to meet them. But I'll still be careful.
Now that my long-winded explanation is over... >.>
