appearance;; Unique, spunky and natural – Mareighly has a look that’s all her own. Wherever she goes she turns head. While some would refer to her has a hippy or a drug addict, Mareighly considers herself natural. She lets her hair do its’ own thing, meaning, she has a full head of dreadlocks. Hers were made by allowing her hair to matt into rope-like locks, helped along and fashioned into skinny, organized locks through twisting and back brushing, no chemicals. There are a few stray hairs, but that’s just part of the process. She dresses them up and keeps them organized by pushing decorative wooden beads on the locks. They are, currently, at breast length. Her hair is a natural dirty blonde, lighter at the ends and darker at the roots. There are a variety of different shades throughout her hair provided by lightening from the sun over the years.
She has very light, pale skin; not quite fair as it has some color, and has a natural pink blush. She avoids make-up for the most part, only using it on special occasions or if she feels like dressing up. As a result, her skin is fairly blemish free and clean. Her face is oval in shape with an angular jawline, but filled out by full, round cheeks. She has full, pink lips, a small nose and almond-shaped eyes that angle down towards her nose. They are a darker blue with a tiny bit of green close to the pupil – hardly noticeable – but change shades of blue dependent upon her clothes. Her eyes are highly animated; expressive, and capable of being absolutely captivating. All her thoughts and feelings are readily seen in her eyes 99% of the time, but once her guard is up you won’t get a thing. She could easily pass as “the girl next door” if it weren’t for her facial piercings. She has a septum, right nostril, two lower lip, one upper lip, and quite a number of ear piercings. No, she does not wear them all at once, she picks and chooses.
Build-wise, Mareighly is nonthreatening. She’s small, on the shorter side of 5’5, and weighs a mere 110 pounds. She eats clean, vegan mostly, and because of it her body could be considered deprived of certain minerals and vitamins. Her legs are scrawny and stomach flat with her abs visible on either side. Her shoulders and collar bone are very prominent, not having enough fat on the bones. She is, by no means anorexic, but nor is she at a healthy weight where body fat is concerned. She has muscle, lean, thin muscle that’s developed very compactly through her vigorous work-out regimens.
personality;; From an early age Mareighly has always been a rebel – the “black sheep” – and stood out in one way or another. It started as defiance; an unwillingness to conform with the rest of her family and do as she was told, or expected, to do. Since then, that has been her norm. Next came piercings. She started with her ears, moved to her lips, more radical ones in her ears (such as plugs) and eventually her nose septum and nostrils. What started as something she ‘liked’ quickly turned into an addiction to the rush of adrenaline and the pain. It became all too obvious that she had a dependent, addictive personality as that need addiction turned into others as she became more willing to branch out and experiment with new things.
Ever since she was young Mareighly has been described as spunky. Her boldness and stubborn determination were qualities that were attractive and disarming at the same time. She was very upfront, frank and to the point. She wasn’t rude, but dressed it up in a way that managed to be insightful and insulting at the same time. Upbeat, charismatic – she certainly had an alluring quality that made others happy be around her. She was interesting and exciting and different with an energy that was hard to miss. That energy, she believed, came from her firm beliefs in being natural, or as natural as possible in today’s day and age.
She is patient and observant, and is both humbled and awed by the little things in life. Living in Alaska really opened her eyes up to the beauty of nature – seeing whales breach, eagles hung, grizzlies fish – and she draws inspiration from it and does her best to respect it. It was what first turned her on to natural remedies, natural cures, essential oils and her wannabe vegan diet. In this sense she can also be a bit weird. She is quite literally down to earth in the sense she lets her body do its’ own thing and is often seen walking about bare-foot. Despite her natural beliefs she is quite normal in any other sense.
Because of her beliefs she considers herself open minded, and would have to be with all the risqué experimenting she was into. But beyond that she was daring, willing to take a risk and even excited about new adventures. She tries to say ‘yes’ to as many things as possible and not close herself off to new possibilities – a kind of go-with-the-flow kind of attitude, except where being told what to do was concerned. It had to be offered, a random act, or her idea. She’s stubborn that way.
She’s a social person and finds herself craving companionship more and more, often getting involved in silly clubs or mixed up with questionable people. She doesn’t have any trouble making friends, and though puts herself in awkward situations, makes the best out of it and finds some way to relate it to something useful; such as becoming a hunter. What started off as disbelief turned into fascination, jealousy then eventually learning a new skills (how to track, hunt and kill), how to defend herself and how to survive.
In many ways she is childish. In the way she loves, pure and simple; yet widely dependent upon her needs and wants at the time. It could be fleeting, unexplainable and strong or simply physical. Childish in the way she finds happiness, and by what makes her happy. And childish in the sense she plans and acts - upon dreams and whims more than logic and money. She is a very bright, intelligent girl. She simply isn’t realistic, though, whether by choice or by nature. She is a dreamer – but she’s young and reality hasn’t quite caught up to her as everything was easy and handed to her as a young girl. But paving her own way now, she may learn. For the time being she’s carefree and happy, calm and lacking stress for a vast majority of the time. It makes her good under pressure, quick on her feet, but also very unguarded and prone to being used, walked over and then swept aside.
Calm and sweet as she may seem, she is highly irrational when she’s angry. She is hard to make mad, mind you, but to get her to that level involves a lot of pent up rage being accumulated and when she blows…she blows. She gets red in the face and almost always cries, which only enrages her from embarrassment. She gets violent and expects violence back – almost wanting the roughness (another strange, strange addiction). She’s a scrapper, decent at putting up a fight – though only for her love of working out and the fact she’s in shape. She’s quick to forgive, but holds silent grudges for some time.
family;; Phillip Bones. Her father. She loves and respects her father despite their very impersonal relationship in her early years growing up. It wasn't until high school that he took a notice in his youngest daughter. Perhaps it was the drug use and wild behavior that was outside the norm of any of their children - a cry for attention - or her beliefs in something more to life than money and work. He gave her extra attention and support those last few years and was the saving grace that gave Mareighly the opportunity to seek the life she wanted, away from her family. She and him had communicated frequently through text, skype and email until recently when she moved from Alaska to South Dakota. He still communicates, worried for his daughter and wishing her well.
Lucy Bones. Her mother. Her mother never seemed like a mother to Mareighly. She loved her children, yes, but for no reason other than the fact they were hers. She didn't take an interest in her kids or what they were interested in until they were teens. And even then Mareighly was spurned by her mother for being so different, so difficult. To this day they don't talk, and haven't since the day Mareighly left.
Elizabeth & Gwen Bones. Her twin sisters.
Phillip Bones Jr. Her little brother.
history;; Lucy Jones and Phillip Bones. They met in college, Yale, to be precise. She was in pre-medicine and he was to be a lawyer. Both came from prestigious upper-class families and their meeting was more or less arranged. While there was no big spark or immediate attraction, both were good-looking people and knew the physical feelings and emotional attachment would develop. They agreed to date. It wasn’t typical in any sense; they rarely saw each other and were very impersonal when they interacted. Their school demands were great and both understood that their futures wouldn’t happen without their success in school, first. In reality, it was nearly twelve years later before the two had their first date. It was all business at first, but because of their life styles, neither of them minded. After graduation the two were married and that’s when the typical bonding, touch-feely stuff developed. They had less time together than the average couple, but both wanted children and they made that happen nearly two years later after their careers were established.
First born, due to the help of hormone shots to increase chance of pregnancy, were twins. Elizabeth and Gwen. They had wanted a boy, so they tried again. They got Mareighly, and finally, came Phillip Jr. There was a two year age gap between the twins and Mareighly, and only a year between Mare and her little brother; she, of course, was over looked because of the closeness of her much-anticipated baby brother. Not that any of the kids got much attention with their parents work schedule (they had nannies) but Mareighly, by a long shot, received the least personal attention by them where as Phillip could have drowned in it by comparison.
Their child-hood was bland – impersonal. Parents constantly worked, nannies and maids took care of them and the house and the meals, and they had private school education. It was very strict and very boring by Mareighly’s opinion. But it was a good education that was supposed to give the kids a head start in life, give them a good standing for good careers. Elizabeth and Gwen already planned on following their mother and becoming doctors of sorts and Phillip Jr. was being pushed in politics even at his young age. It was expected that Mareighly pick a just as prestigious career but no- Mareighly was, from the start, turned off by this world and life style. It was so strict, planned out, impersonal and listless.
She became the black sheep of the family. She wanted art, and color and excitement. She experimented with drugs and became a waitress at fifteen and wanted a career in wildlife conservation or forestry or anything that wasn’t serious and stuffy. Her parents and educators tried to will her on ‘the right path’ but she was a girl who would not be budged. Despite all the trouble she caused for him, Phillip admired his daughter for her individuality and desire for something more. Sure, wealth and status was one thing, but there was more to life and her father understood it. Secretly, he spurred her dreams on, and once she graduated from high school he provided her with the funds to leave and do her own thing – whatever it might be.
Skeptical, and a little unsure of taking her parents money and be ‘that girl’, Mareighly eventually got out of New York and the busy, messed up life-style she grew up in. She went to Alaska, the complete opposite of everything she knew. She got back to the basics, down to earth and learned skills, honest hard-working skills up there. She wanted to college in Fairbanks. She started with a degree in Biology, switched to environmental sciences, to veterinary medicine, to ecology evolution and behavior sciences with an emphasis in wildlife field work. That all happened over the course of two years, and during that period she had gotten herself enrolled in a flight school on the side and managed to get her pilots license. You hear it a lot about Alaska, but really, to get anywhere you had to fly. Nearly everyone up there knew how to fly a plane and she felt it was an opportunity she couldn’t pass up.
At twenty she moved herself from Alaska after her two years there and enrolled in college in South Dakota. She loved Alaska, and her heart remains there, but the constant hours of sunlight or eternal hours of dusk…it got old real fast on one so young. South Dakota offered a similar climate only lacking the view of the mountains, but still had more people – also something she missed. Alaska was vast and spread out with a sparce population and she lived people, she missed people.
Now in Converse she remains enrolled in school for ecology, evolution and behavior; not quite sure if it’s what she wants but satisfied for now. Her education up until now was funded by her parents, though since moving from Alaska, she has cut off all ties until she deems herself "successful" and can face her parents and have them be proud of who she's become. Now, she relies on grants, scholarships and student loans.
Recently, it was revealed that there were werewolves amongst them in Converse. While she has a great love of ‘all God’s creatures’ she kind of feels that they are unnatural. She was talked into becoming a hunter with all the hype and mayhem that followed the reveal – but she has no ill wishes on them personally. She even feels a little jealous that they are all so special, in a way. So while she has no qualms, she was glad she took the iniative to be trained on how to effectively hunt and kill a werewolf should she ever need to defend herself or others. It’s not out of fear, but out of the lack of knowledge on the species.
Currently considers herself a free-lance journalist/photographer. Dabbles in writing...but has no serious job outside of school. Open to opportunities.
