Lukan could barely hear Jason amongst his sobs. He could hardly hear anything! It felt as if someone had shoved cotton balls in his ears then held their hands over them. That vulnerability increased his panic to new levels. He began to lash at out his surroundings, including Jason. Luk whirled to face Jason with another cry. His fists beat savagely against the alpha's chest as he screamed in anguish. Even more so when he realized how slow his movements felt.. how weak and pathetic. "He played me! Am played me for a fool!!" The teen's claws... no, his nails clung to Jason's shirt and tugged at the fabric. But he could not tear a single thread. Not with these human, clawless fingers.
The teen spoke through pale lips and chattering teeth. "Don't you get it?" His face dropped its furious expression in favor of torturous realization. Lukan's words became strangled, as if someone had wrapped their hands around his throat and squeezed. That person had a face... Am's face. "H-he already did.. he already did." The sixteen year old kept his breathing rapid and uncontrolled. He couldn't calm down.. couldn't Jason see that he would never calm down!? Couldn't he see that he was human now? Whether J could see the difference in Luk or not, it hadn't even occurred to the boy that Jason too was undergoing some physical changes. "He made it temporary... I know he did."
Lukan finally released J's shirt and fell back to the ground in a heap of resigned sorrow. He choked and sputtered on air, and by the time he caught his breath Jason was speaking. He said... something about it passing. Luk screamed in frustration and aimed another punch at J's side. "It won't pass! Didn't you hear me!!??" Well Luk certainly didn't hear all Jason was trying to say. Had he, then maybe he would have calmed down enough to at least stop his screaming. And maybe, he would have heard another child's scream intertwined with his own.

"Lukan!!" He really needed to get the kid to calm down and focus. Having the boy come undone wouldn't help at all. The poor boy was losing his mind. Honestly, J had no idea how the kid got this silly notion in his head but that hardly mattered now. The most important thing was getting Luk to understand that he was wrong. "Am didn't do anything. This, at least, isn't his fault." He finally did manage to get a good grip on the flailing boy, holding the kid's face between his big hands. "Lukan! There's an eclipse! No one is hurting you. No one did this. It'll pass when the sun passes over the moon!" Dear God, help me!
Luk's screams were so loud and J was so focused on the kid that he didn't hear the screams of another child until Ever was on the porch. "What the hell...?" As soon as J managed to get the door open, the little girl had collapsed. J managed to whisk the child into the house, holding the child as close as possible as he rushed with her to the living room. He bundled the naked girl in a blanket, swaddling her as tight as possible before depositing her in front of the fire in the room. Thank goodness that, even as a human, J was still capable of quite a bit of strength and speed, though not nearly as much as in wolf mode.
Rushing back to Luk, he checked on the boy, seeing if he was any more put together than before. That was when it occurred to him that Connie should have been with Everleigh. "Damn it!" Without a word, the big man rushed from the house, screaming Connie's name for a moment before he could just barely make her out in the yard. Rushing over to her, it took a few tries to lift her into his arms. Even though he had just rushed outside, the cold was effecting him already. It took some doing but he finally managed to stumble back inside, panting and holding Connie as best he could.
He slowly made his way into the living room again, grabbing another blanket and positioning Connie on the floor by Everleigh. He couldn't help looking from the kitchen, where Luk was and the living with the two girls and feeling overwhelmed. Where was everyone else when you needed them?

Connie was freezing. Shaking, she huddled as small as she could, trying to absorb her body warmth, but the wind and snow kept stripping any warmth she could find from her. She couldn't see Everleigh anymore, couldn't hear her. "Ever..." She tried to scream it, to make sure the child was okay, but her voice was barely above a whisper. Suddenly, the snow didn't feel so cold. Closing her eyes, she whimpered. She knew laying down in the snow was a bad idea, knew she had to stay upright and as out of the snow as she could. But she was so cold, and laying down seemed so... So inviting.
Just as the urge to lay down was at its strongest, Jason was there, trying to pick her up. "Jason... Oh god... Ever?" Her voice was barely above a whisper. She wrapped her arms around Jason's neck as he stumbled back to the pack house. She snuggled close to him, shaking. Her mind felt sluggish, and his warmth was nearly burning her, but it felt too good to let go.
As they got inside, she let out a yelp as the warmth of the house seemed to crash down on her. She shook violently, and let Jason wrap her in a blanket and set her on the floor next to Ever. As cold as she was, she managed to get her arms out of the blanket long enough to sit up against the wall, and pull Everleigh into her lap. The child was wrapped up like she was, but the more warmth the better. The girl looked to have passed out at some point, and Connie's worry doubled as her brain slowly started to focus.
"J- Jason..." Her teeth chattered together as she held the child close to her. "W- What happened? M- My wolf..." Tears brimmed in her eyes as she turned to look at her alpha, and despite herself, they fell down her pale cheeks. She was shaking violently as her body tried to warm up. "W- What's g- going on?"

Jason's shout stunned Luk and momentarily stopped his own cries. He murmured repeatedly, still insisting on this new 'reality.' "No no.. it is, it is his fault.. I sw-" The alpha shouted again, cutting Luk off and grabbing his face. Lukan gripped Jason's fingers and tried to crush them with little success. "No no..." But as Jason talked more and began to explain their physical changes, Lukan let his hands slip from the alpha's and his face to soften. But there was still confusion in his eyes... and that ever present vulnerability. "E-eclipse?" He looked up at J's eyes, his brow furrowed, and whimpered quietly. No longer was he a screaming mess, but this news... still wasn't good news. "I don't want to be human. Not for a second.. please, Jason." As if J had the power to reverse everything, to fix everything. Luk started to lean against the other's chest, but Jason had stood up. And he was running away.
"Jason!" His heart started to race again as J disappeared from his view, but he soon reappeared.. with a girl? Luk's brow furrowed but his panic subsided. He watched quietly, and almost calmly, as J fussed over the girl. That was, he stayed calm until Jason ran outside again. Left him alone again. Lukan cried out with terror once more. "JASON!" He was shaking like a leaf, terrified with the concept of being left alone during all this turmoil. He felt vulnerable and incredibly frightened, whether the eclipse's effects were permanent or not. Luk made an effort to pull himself to his feet and charge for the door. He felt slow.. so damn slow.
The very second he reached the door, J was back again... with another girl? No, more woman than girl. The alpha wrapped up Connie in a method similar to before, leaving Luk standing with his mouth somewhat open. What was going on? As Luk often did when he felt uncomfortable, the teen became angry. He looked for reasons to support his anger: he felt human, it was freezing, and J had left him alone twice (if only for very brief time periods). The teen growled nervously and began pressing himself into a corner by the front door. His eyes settled on Connie and Ever, and he snarled. He couldn't stop himself from blaming the two females for some of his distress. They'd drawn J away from him twice. He didn't even recognize the younger one, but already he was mad at her. Yes, furious at an unconscious child and a freezing woman. It was difficult to be rational during times like this.

It was still another moment before J could move. He just looked between the girls on the floor in the living room and the boy on the floor of the kitchen, so overwhelmed and feeling, for the first time in his long life, completely alone. This was up to him. This would test his alpha skills like nothing had so far and J really needed to get it together and focus.
Connie's tears got his attention first. Jason made himself move over to the woman, a big palm lifting to her face and a long finger wiping her tears as his eyes locked with hers. "It's just an eclipse, Connie. It'll pass. You'll both be alright." But one look at the little girl in Connie's arms told him that the child might not be fairing as well as Connie, herself, was. Rushing to the closet, the alpha yanked down an electric blanket, not caring at all when several other things came tumbling down with it. Rushing back to Connie and the child, he snatched the little girl up for a moment, wrapping the electric blanket around her swaddled form and plugged it into the nearest socket. This wasn't the best idea. It was going to defrost the girl much too quickly and cause her a great deal of pain but right now getting her warm was Jason's only concern. They would deal with the problem of the child's pain when it came. They wouldn't have that chance if the girl contracted pneumonia first, though.
The big guy placed the kid back in Connie's arms. "Just hold her, ok? You'll both be ok. Just stay near the fire." His eyes met Connie's for a brief moment and there was immense concern and fear in them for just a second before he stood and rushed back to Luk.
And great. The boy seemed to be having a temper tantrum. Well, if there was one thing the alpha couldn't take right now it was sulking, pouting children. With a growl that sounded way too human for his own liking, J grabbed onto the front of the boy's shirt and hauled him close. "Get it together right now, Luk. Look around! Its just me and you and those girls suffering in the next room. I need you, alright?! You're all I have right now! This is no time for petty, childish tantrums!" He'd feel like a jerk later. Right now, he just didn't care how harsh he sounded. He was worried and scared and pissed! Bad combo. "Get up and start boiling some water while we still have the electricity. I need to build the fire in the fireplace back up. We'll all freeze if we don't start working together." And with that, he let the boy go and went back into the living room, opening the grate and tossing in a few more logs before he started poking the flames. In spite of everything, J still had faith in Luk. Under all the kid's emotions and anger was a good boy. He was just hoping that Luk, himself, would remember that now and do what he needed him to do.

Connie sucked in a breath when Jason knelt next to her and placed his hand on her cheek, and tried to stop her tears. Everleigh had woken up and murmered her name a moment ago, and though the girl had gone unconscious again, Connie stroked her hair. She looked back up at Jason when he wiped her tears away and he forced eye contact.
"It's just an eclipse, Connie. It'll pass. You'll both be alright."
Taking another deep breath, Connie forced herself to settle. An eclipse? She still shook, though now it was more from cold than fear. She leaned against Jason's palm until he drew away, drawing strength from the simple touch. She would be fine when the eclipse passed. She wasn't human. Not human...
She looked up when she heard the crashing, startled. Jason had yanked out an electric blanket, and took Everleigh out of Connie's lap to swaddle her in it. Connie's eyes darted to the child. She didn't look good, and fear spiked through her. If Connie hadn't gone to get Ever, and she had been forced back to human in that cave... She shook her head, and when Jason placed Ever back in Connie's lap, Connie wrapped her arms around her again.
She looked up at Jason, and gave him a faint smile and nodded when he told her what to do. "Thank you Jason," Connie said softly. She watched him, curious, as he went over to Lukan. Her eyes widened when he grabbed him by the front of his shirt and snapped at him. Jason must be worse off than he seemed if he was snapping at people. Had she not needed to watch Ever, and if she'd had some clothes, she would have gotten up to help. Connie had almost missed the glare the boy had been sending her and Everleigh before Jason had yelled at him to get it together.
Connie looked back down at the child in her arms and pressed her lips to Everleigh's forehead. "You'll be safe here," She whispered, even though the child wasn't awake. "Please don't hate us too much for making you come here..." Her eyes closed and she shifted the child so Ever's head was on her shoulder and Connie could rest her head on top of Everleigh's. She sighed and forced herself to relax, just waiting until Jason told her what to do, or until Ever woke up.

For a long time there was no movement or sounds from the child. Everleigh just laid against Connie, her breathing slow and shallow. She was definitely sick and feverish already, without her wolf traits helping her to keep warm and help with the effects of the cold. It wasn't until Connie shifted her against her shoulder and the child heard the whispered words that she came around at all.
Her head lolled against Connie's shoulder and the child fidgeted from within all the blankets. Now that she was finally warming up and feeling was returning to her body, Ever was getting uncomfortable. In fact, her legs and hands and feet were actually starting to hurt. The more she defrosted, the more uncomfortable she was becoming. She really was defrosting too fast and that pain that Jason had feared would come eventually was settling in.
She tried to shake off all the blankets and especially the electric one on top of her but it was hard for her to yank them down. Her arms and hands were still weak, her body not obeying like it should. What was happening? "Noooo...," she whined as she squirmed. And now there was angry shouting coming from another room and that really wasn't helping the girl feel more comfortable. She started squirming again...or trying to...but Connie's words were now registering in her brain. Hate her? Why would she hate Connie? The child tried to sit up but was having a hard time with that, too. "I wouldn't hate anybody." That came out sounding crankier than she intended but the dang kid was uncomfortable and just wanted to move!
Another attempt was made to push off the blankets and she at least managed to get the electric blanket unwrapped off the top of her. She was completely wrapped all the way around, though. She would have to get up to get the rest of it off. That's what she tried to do but her strength was gone. "My wolf is gone!! I wanna move!" She couldn't even muster the strength to shout. Her attempt came out as a whiny, loud whisper.

Luk paid very little attention to what Jason was doing to Connie and Ever. All he cared about was that they were there, and they were drawing Jason's attention away from him. They made Jason run off when he was nothing but scared and stressed! Lukan's growls amplified as he scratched dull nails across the floor. His eyes moved back from Connie, to Jason, to Ever. If he could shift, his eyes would have been gold and his claws out. It was incredibly stupid of Luk to feel so... wound up over this matter. And even more stupid to blame all the chaos on Ever and Connie, but he didn't know how else to react. He didn't feel happy, or even normal for that matter. Someone needed to be made responsible. Sadly, for now Luk had declared those two people Ever and Connie.
The confused and furious teen kept up with his growls until Jason yanked him up by his shirt. Lukan immediately launched into a screaming fit. "You left you left!! You fucking left, damn it!" He tried to pry J's fingers away from the fabric of his shirt while kicking out at the other's shin. Lukan continued his antics until J spoke... or yelled. The teen's expression fell. "I'm... I'm... not having a..." Lukan floundered with his words, mostly because he was trying to catch his breath at the same time. The boy's pause gave J enough time to speak some more, though Luk was still glaring at the other. He was still fuming by the time he had caught his breath. "Get off me!!" Luk craned his neck and bit Jason's thumb until the other let go. He wished that his teeth were sharper...
The second Jason let go, Luk shoved the other to the side and stormed off towards the kitchen. He hesitated and paced back and forth along the tile. Luk didn't want to listen to J for the sole purpose of getting on his nerves. Luk wanted to get back at the alpha for leaving him. But after a couple minutes of indecision, Lukan pulled out a pot and began filling it with water. Some small part of him (his conscience) knew that it wasn't right for him to make a little girl suffer, even if he did feel wronged by her. But, he never wiped the scowl from his face.

Jason didn't particularly care if the boy scowled or not, as long as he did what J wanted him to do. All the kid's antics and protests fell on deaf ears. Jason had more to worry about than Luk's petty slights right now.
J was just standing up in front of the fireplace after replacing the grate when he heard the protests coming from the bundle in Connie's arms. Instantly, the alpha twirled around to watch as the child tried her hardest to get free of the blankets around her. "Everleigh, stop." The command was gentle and soft but very firm. She needed to stay wrapped up regardless of the pain. Jason easily readjusted the blankets on the girl, wrapping her back up again. "You need these on. Leave them." There was a quiet, firm authority ringing clear in that statement this time.
He reached down and started rubbing the child's legs and feet, trying to get some circulation going again in her extremities. That was the source of most of the pain, blood flow...or lack of it. Jason figured if he could get some of that moving again Ever would improve. Jason could hear Luk in the kitchen, running the water and a small measure of pride struck him. He knew he could count on the boy, even when Luk was in a mood. "Luk, find towels and bring the hot water in here when you're done." Both Ever and Connie could benefit from having hot towels on them right now.
Jason's attention turned to Connie as she shivered and he moved to her, rubbing her shoulders and down her arms, trying to get the blood flowing in the same way he had done for Everleigh. At least Jason was nearby and heard Ever's words to Connie. She wouldn't hate them, well, that was a relief.

When Everleigh started to stir, Connie had to shift in order to keep her from throwing off her blankets. Despite that, the electric blanket started to unravel, but Connie wasn't able to move fast enough to wrap the girl back up. She could understand why Everleigh wanted out. Her own limbs were starting to hurt like little pins and needles were stabbing her. She grimaced as Ever's wiggling only made her hurt worse, but she didn't say anything. She only vaguely heard Ever saying she wouldn't hate anyone, and felt relieved, but her arms... God it hurt. No wonder the child wanted out.
When Jason came over and started to rub Ever's legs, trying to get the blood to start flowing again, Connie was relieved. Maybe it would help the girl stop wiggling. She nearly jumped, though, when Jason started doing the same thing to her shoulders and arms, and she felt heat flush her face. "I'll be okay," She said softly. It hurt, but Jason rubbing her arms was helping a little. "Um... Do you by chance have any spare clothes we can wear?" She asked in a soft voice. She normally didn't mind being naked, but right then, she felt the absence of her clothes keenly. "It might help some... And I really wouldn't mind a hot shower..."
She was starting to feel uncomfortable. She couldn't remember a time she felt uncomfortable at being naked, but, well, there she was... She sighed as she looked down at Ever, who was starting to look like she was getting ill. Worry for the child drew her brows together as she stroked Everleigh's hair. "You said this was an eclipse, right?" She asked Jason softly. "How long do these usually last...?"

There came more voices and more pain. Jason was there, telling her she had to keep the blankets on and had to stay wrapped. Usually Everleigh was a very obedient child. She would do anything that any adult told her to simply because of the fact that they were an adult and she was a child. This, however, was different. She was in pain and the blankets were making it worse. "But it hurts." She couldn't help her whimpered protest as she wiggled. This time, however, it seemed that J had wrapped her good and tight and the child just didn't have the strength left to get free again. Jason started rubbing her legs and feet and although it caused more pain, at first, once the blood was flowing again, it did make her feel marginally better.
Vaguely, the little girl was aware that Connie was shifting around, too but wasn't sure if it was because of Ever's own movements or Connie's own discomfort. Either way, the child was trying to stay still. Not only would it help her own pain but she didn't want Connie to feel the way that she, herself, was feeling. The pain and discomfort were just horrible.
There were still voices around her but Everleigh couldn't bring herself to stay focused on them for too long. She was trying to concentrate on making the pain stop. Even in her distracted state, though she was able to make out bits and pieces of what Connie was saying. Something about clothes and a shower. Maybe Connie wasn't in as bad of shape as Ever, if she could move enough to shower and dress. The little girl liked the idea of that. The last thing the child wanted was the nice lady feeling like Everleigh, herself, did right now. Then there was a word that Ever's never heard before. Eclipse. What the hell was that? Was that the reason that she wasn't a wolf anymore? Was that what was making her sick? She tried to stay conscious long enough to hear what Jason's response would be.

"Whatever!" He refused to openly agree with one of Jason's commands, especially while he was still fuming at the other for 'deserting' him. Now, amongst his anger, Lukan felt like a maid. Cinderella Cinderella! Do this and this and this! He refused to look upon the situation with a more optimistic outlook. No, Jason was not trusting him with the safety of others. Course not! He was ordering him for the sake of ordering him... maybe he just wanted him out of the way. The paranoid teen started up another growl and nearly burned his hand on the pot's edge in all his anger. Lukan did not heed the pot's warning and continued on with his kitchen rampage, rustling around for any wash cloths or towels. Despite all his anger, he'd resolved to do what Jason said. He'd just act like a brat all throughout the task.
When Lukan had finally discovered some small towels underneath the kitchen sink, he turned off the stove and proceeded to dunk the towels into the water. Once more, he nearly scalded himself. In all his anger... well Luk might have almost welcomed that pain. It would give him all the more reason to scream and bitch. But lucky for Luk's body, he narrowly avoided injury and walked on to bring the towels to Jason. Yet, the alpha received only one towel.
"Here you are master." The teen spat distastefully and flung the wet towel in J's face. He was about to throw the other one at him when he caught sight of Ever. Luk faltered as a pang of guilt struck his heart. He stayed quiet for a long moment and picked at the fabric in his hand, then eventually nudged Jason to the side. Lukan shot the alpha another glare, silently warning him to stay out of his way. He then turned his attention back to the small girl... so pitiful. There was a frailness about her that froze his veins and took the glare out of his eyes. Something too... disturbingly familiar. At that moment, Lukan came to the conclusion that only he would tend to her. Only he could do so properly.
The werewolf boy knelt down onto the couch and rested the wet towel across Ever's forehead... but that wasn't enough. He had to do something more. Something better! Lukan had many flaws (some far worse than those belonging to the average teenager) but he had one good trait in him that stood out amongst the others: a protective and obligatory nature towards the downtrodden, especially children. Ever was nestled in the very pit of that category. He may not have heard of her past, or even her name for that matter, but the very weakness in her body told Lukan enough. He had to help. Luk cast a glance at Connie, and without a single explanation, pulled the child from her arms and into his lap. A soft growl rumbled in his throat as he glanced at the other pack members, silently daring them to make a comment or snatch the girl away from him. It was his responsibility. He'd made that much clear. Dutifully, he readjusted the towel on Ever's forehead and settled her into a more comfortable position on his lap.

Jason could hear the boy fuming in the next room and did his level best to bite back the anger that was rising. That boy could irritate him to no end but right now wasn't the time to focus on that. There were two people that needed help and J needed to give them his attention.
And when his attention focused from Ever to Connie was when the big doofus finally noticed that he was making the woman uncomfortable with the rubbing of her shoulders and arms. Blushing a bit, himself, he slowly let his hands drop from her sides, chuckling lightly and feeling a bit sheepish. "Yeah...of course. There's always clothes around here." In a pack of this size, there was definitely no shortage of clothes. There were probably clothes that would fit Everleigh too but J thought that, for now, maybe keeping her bundled in the blankets might be better.
And a hot shower would probably do Connie some good. Again Jason smiled and nodded. "Of course. Can you stand?" Obviously, not right away, since Everleigh was in her arms right now but he meant in general. How was her circulation? Any numbness? How weak was she still from all the cold? He would, naturally, assist her in any way she needed. "Eclipses only last a few hours, at most. The last one I experienced lasted about two hours." Thank god for that much. At least their vulnerabilities were very temporary.
That was when Luk decided to make his presence known, throwing a hot towel in Jason's face. Growling out of habit rather than instinct, like he was used to, Jason whirled around and stood. He was about to launch into an angry, loud lecture about respect and appropriate behavior...but then he caught the look that Luk was giving Everleigh. Jason's mouth clamped shut with an audible snap when he noted the compassion and sympathy apparent in the boy's eyes. Luk was looking at Everleigh as if he were looking at a younger version of himself, prior to joining the pack. It was only then that the similarities between the two children finally struck the Alpha. How could he have missed it before? Of course, Luk would have that natural bond to the little girl. Their situations were so similar.
Jason allowed himself to be brushed aside by Luk, watching with great pride as the boy took the hot towel in his hands and gently placed it on the girl's fevered forehead. The boy's protective instincts were kicking in full force and J couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the growl that came from the kid but he remained where he was, to the side and just observing Luk's every move.
He almost protested and couldn't help moving a bit closer when Luk picked Everleigh up and placed her in his lap. He was only worried that moving the girl, especially so suddenly would cause her pain but Luk seemed to know what he was doing, holding her gently and cradling her carefully. After just standing there a moment, observing the boy for a minute longer, just to be sure that the kid really did have the situation with the child under control and wasn't just being stubborn, the alpha gave the boy a brief, proud grin and a nod of approval before turning back to Connie. Holding out a hand, he crouched beside her. "How about some help up?"

Casted out I’m watching your eyes

Connie was in pain, but she knew she could stand it. Ever, though, was still so young, and her squirming was telling Connie just how badly she was hurting. When she complained about the pain, Connie frowned up at Jason, worried as she brushed a hand over Everleigh's head, feeling her temperature. "She's burning up..." Connie hadn't noticed it before, but now... She was worried. The girl was looking ill, and felt sick. The eclipse was hindering them in more ways than one.
She barely noticed Luk coming back in until she heard Jason growl, and looked up to see him ripping a towel off his face. Luk didn't even seem to see Connie as he stared at Ever, and Connie realized he was feeling guilty for his earlier actions. Before Connie could even blink, Luk was taking Everleigh out of her lap and putting her in his. Connie blinked once, arms outstretched for a moment as the girl was taken from her, then she let them fall and found herself smiling softly at Luk. She didn't know him very well, but just then, she was so proud of him.
She didn't say anything when he growled at them, making sure the hot towel he'd put on Everleigh's forehead was going to stay put. She glanced up at Jason when he crouched next to her, and thought she could see pride in his eyes too. "I think I can stand..." She said softly as she took his proffered hand and let him pull her to her feet. She swayed for a moment, her feet flaring with pain. Apparently running around on bare feet in the snow wasn't doing them good. She found her balance, and shrugged.
"I won't be able to walk fast..." She said softly as she made sure the blanket was wrapped securely around her. She glanced down at Luk, and rested a hand gently on his shoulder. "If you can, make her some soup," She said gently, not giving him an order but trying to stress the importance of her words without upsetting him further. "She's coming down with a bad cold, and until this... Whatever passes, she's..." She trailed off as she looked at Everleigh, worry crossing her features. Jason had said the eclipse would only last a couple hours at most. "I trust you." She said simply, before she she looked up at Jason.
"So where is that shower again?"
