Converse is a small town. You know the kind. One blink while driving through and you might miss it entirely. One grocery store. No stop lights at all. Everyone knows everyone else, and new neighbors are the talk of the town for years. Converse is one of those towns. In one word, boring.

... but not really.... Converse has a secret.

You can find different legends about werewolves in every culture, all with differing opinions on the level of danger to humans. The residents of Converse can tell you the truth... but they probably won't. You see, Converse is home to an entire pack of werewolves. Almost every single resident is either one of them, or knows about them. Don't ask me how I know this. It's not a pretty story. Let's just say I learned the hard way.

And here's the real kicker...

Not everyone is convinced that werewolves can keep themselves safe. There are some within Converse and the surrounding communities who believe the werewolves are out to turn us all and take over the world. Okay, so maybe they don't believe that exactly, but you get the point. They think werewolves are dangerous and unpredictable. They might be right about that, but its not for me to decide. In reality, they just want to keep their families safe. Who am I to judge?

The half moon had Jess feeling a lot better about herself and the state of the world. After having spent far too much time trapped in her wolf form, it felt so good to be human again. She'd missed being at work quite a bit and had been so relieved that her little bakery hadn't burned down in her absence. And now that things were back to normal, she felt a lot more comfortable leaving the store in the hands of one of her competent employees while she wandered out to get done some Christmas shopping.

With Aiden being watched by her mother for the afternoon, she'd managed to pick up quite a few new toys for him that would need to be wrapped before Christmas. She'd also found some new ornaments and decorations that she probably shouldn't have purchased and would not fit with what was currently on display in her house. Which is how she'd ended up walking into the pack house, a few bags of decorations in her arms and the scent of fresh rabbit and Collin hitting her nose. Almost reflexively her lips turned down in a frown as she spied the oversized wolf making quite the mess in the living room, eyes disapproving in the way they rolled. "You better clean that up when you've finished. Lord knows I'm not going to." Lies. Jess was actually rather compulsive about cleaning and spent way too much of her time trying to bring some order to the Orion pack house.
