MAYBE I'M A DIFFERENT BREED
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]"Ya did not!" Isaac reached over to shove Ruf's shoulder, a smirk playing up on the freshman's face. Ah yes... freshman. They could never understand the sexual adventures of someone as experienced as Rufus. "I'm telling you-" Rufus shoved the other back with a grin. "It did happen. She came up to me... aye, fellas. She came to me. And she wrapped her hands around my waist... like this!" He lunged towards Isaac and looped his fingers around the other's belt loops, holding on until the other smacked his face and pushed him away. By then, Rufus was a roar of laughter and snickers. He barely felt the hit. "Prude. What's a little contact? Scared I might take you from behind?" The bisexual boy burst into more fits of laughter. Even before he'd discovered his sexuality, he had little problem with touching others in ways they did not expect. But if you wanted to be friends with Rufus, you quickly got over it.
Isaac, along with the other two boys, continued to hang onto Ruf's every word as he told the rest of his story. Their eyes were filled with lust... and even some jealousy. Oh how they wished they had such stories to tell. Rufus flashed another grin at the group, proud to be looked at in such a way, before he excused himself. "I'm gonna take a leak. Wait up will ya?" Before waiting for a response, Rufus separated himself from the group and moved towards a more secluded area.
His friends didn't wait up. As many teachers often know, teen boys have... very little attention spans. Far as Rufus knew, they were distracted by a stupid squirrel or a falling leaf! Chances were that they'd caught sight of the campground and forged ahead. Either way, they were gone. Rufus zipped up his pants and moved towards the earlier location of his friends... and frowned. "Oh you fuckers." He groaned and glanced around. "Eeny meeny miny moe. Thataway." Rufus started moving north after making a very umm... educated guess. But after walking for almost thirty minutes, Ruf's spirits were dampened like the snow beneath his feet. Rufus seldom became angry, but his friends were really pushing it. |

Nikki wasn't much for hunting, and no I don't mean the kind with guns and bullets. She hunted as a wolf, she would never pick up a gun when she herself was a pretty awesome weapon. Despite that she was rarely hunting as her wolfy self anyways, she was kind of attached to normal food like pizza, pasta, salads. Now and again, though, around full moons where she was in no mood to go grocery shopping you could find her black wolfy form stalking throughout the trees. Right now, she had her heart set on a young doe. It would sate her hunger, and no doubt the normal wolves in the area would probably appreciate the left overs.
Nikki was stalking the creature through the woods for a while, attempting to stay downwind as much as she could (hey! human tactics are useful sometimes). Finally as the stag entered a small clearing, Nikki felt it was finally time to attack. It only took a few seconds for her to move from a slow pad to an outright bolt through the woods. Dodging this and that, her senses were locked on the young doe she had chosen as her target. No doubt the doe wish she had stayed closer to other deer.
This is too easy
It was too late for the doe to do anything but start to scramble away as the black wolf lunged onto it. Nikki immediately locked her jaws onto the deer's throat. Her razor sharp teeth punctured the skin, and the doe dropped dead as Nikki tore away at the neck. Nikki felt a bit of revulsion, but it was hidden too far away as she was ruled by the wolf side of her. The human side was locked up in a safe somewhere, and was about as useful as a jar of jelly on the moon. Nikki began to tare apart the doe, eating it happily and monstrously. She never thought she would be bothered in this moment in time.

MAYBE I'M A DIFFERENT BREED
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]A few more minutes of shlepping through the undergrowth and Rufus was finally pissed off. He wasn't exactly an A+ student or anything, but damn he chose some stupid friends this time around! What morons left a friend in the forest alone? Teen boys that's who! Next time, he was taking a group of girls into the forest and... mmm, the thought was rather appetizing. Threesome anyone? Unfortunately, not even the thought of sex could cheer Rufus up for more than a few seconds. He was no fool. Anyone, except for the werewolves Rufus knew next to nothing about, could get lost in the forest just by wandering off the path. Rufus and his friends had done just that. But one of them knew how to navigate the forest for some reason (go figure, he was a werewolf) so there was really no danger as long as they stayed together. They hadn't stayed together, obviously.
One rather disturbing question began to prod Ruf's brain: what would he do if he couldn't find his friends? The teen stopped walking for a moment and frowned. His stomach suddenly felt twisted... he felt sick. Rufus quickly shook his head and pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. Hmm, lighter. He smiled, pleased with his discovery. Rufus resolved that he would start a fire (a controlled one) if his efforts to find his friends proved futile. For the moment, he would stay put so to not wander further away from civilization. Oh, and he'd have a nice smoke. Rufus sat down and leaned his back against a tree, then he lit his cigarette and took a long, calming drag. Better...
Rufus became so absorbed with the effects of sweet, sweet nicotine that he paid little attention to his surroundings. Maybe he would have picked up the scent of fresh blood if smoke wasn't clogging his senses. Such a happy release was putting him in great danger. |

Nikki had to admit, being a wolf was very natural despite how much she liked to pretend to be normal. She sometimes forgot how much fun she had being a wolf when she was too busy confined in human flesh. Right now she was reveling in the afterglow of a kill. She had destroyed the carcass and was now dragging it behind a tree. It wasn't necessarily hidden, but something in her human brain told her not to let it stay out in the open. Well, for once she followed that inkling and the deer was elsewhere... maybe she would come back for it later?
Suddenly a scent came to her, it was a human. A switch turned off and most of her sense of humanity flew out the window... errr, out of the tree? This human was too close the pack house, and her instincts (being ruled by the moon and all) told her to get that guy out of there as soon as possible. She brought her nose to the air, sniffing at the faint scent being brought to her by the wind. She chose a direction that was vaguely correct and half ran hald padded towards the trifling human.
He better leave soon...
It didn't take long for Nikki to track him down. The scent was familiar, and something about it made Nikki feel sour. She had no idea what it was though, so instead Nikki decided it must have been the cigarette smoke. She never liked that stuff anyways...
Nikki took a few steps forward in front of this guy, whose name she didn't even know. Right now she felt only instinct running through her veins. This guy had to go. Slowly her head came into view, followed by the rest of her black clad body. This person was covered in tattoos, had interesting hair, and was smoking a cigarette. Nikki let out a low growl, if he had been a wolf he would know it meant get the hell away. He probably still knew this, but that didn't mean the other would comply.
It's kind of hard to say what the other should do in this situation. If he ran, Nikki would be inclined to chase, and she could easily catch the other. If stayed put, she would pounce and probably do quite a bit of damage. His best bet would be to walk away slowly, never turning his back on her. But really, what human would know this when he's confronted with a larger-than-normal wolf that's snarling and growling constantly?

MAYBE I'M A DIFFERENT BREED
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]The sweet smoke flooding from Ruf's lips could stifle the stench of blood, but no amount of smoke could hide that growl. No amount. Rufus frowned, the cigarette still touching his lips, and looked around. He'd originally worried about a slower death: starving, freezing... but no, not death by animal. He'd never worried about dangers like that. Rufus thought he had much more... modern deaths to worry over. Death by alcohol, lung cancer, a car crash maybe. He'd never stared at the raccoon which so often raided his family's trashcan and thought: I could die by rabies, or it could tear my throat out in its tiny little jaws. And even then, Rufus was one of those live-in-the-moment sort of people. Live now, die later. Death rarely crossed his mind in the first place. But as the large beast stepped forward... he saw a flicker of the grim reaper cross his vision.
Rufus' breath caught in his throat. The cigarette dropped from his hand and briefly caught fire to a leaf, but it quickly died out. The boy's fear, on the other hand, didn't pass so easily. This wolf... was huge. The teen's eyes glanced over the wolf's sharp teeth, glaring eyes, and long claws. But, one terrifying thought from earlier suddenly became reassuring: this wolf is huge. Ruf's mouth opened in shock, but then a grin tweaked his lips. He was saved! Judging by the size, this wolf was clearly not a wolf at all. It... or he... or she, was a werewolf! Not too long ago, he'd come into contact with two werewolves (though he never learned their names). All the puzzle pieces mashed together at that moment, and he became a believer. Oh he was so thankful to be informed now... roughly informed. Perhaps he wouldn't still be smiling if he knew more about werewolves and how they acted after a hunt.
Rufus quickly raised his hands in a non offensive gesture. "Comrade, comrade!" No wait.. maybe this werewolf didn't know what that even meant. "Friend!" Yes, that was better. Oh everything would be fine! This werewolf would soon stop growling and maybe it would lead him out of this forest! Saved... he was saved. |

Why isn't he leaving?
Rufus' words didn't translate in her wolfy mind. All she knew was she had given him a lot of warning. He obviously wasn't taking her warnings, he was still standing like an idiot. In front of a very angry and territorial wolf. Nikki wasn't very logical in this state, she had never let herself give into the moon as much as she was doing so today, and the results were sure to prove fatal. No doubt someone was going to leave inured, and that either meant Nikki would be moaning about a cut or burn for a while... or Nikki would be stuck with Rufus for quite a while.
Nikki took a few steps closer, she didn't look any nicer. She wasn't even remotely human right now. She snapped at Rufus, big yellowish razor teeth visible through the darkness, and yet he didn't move. He just stood there, intruding on the land that her pack had claimed for it's own. This was simply not acceptable.
3...2...1
That's it, she was done with this joker. She took a half step back, and she hunched together. Getting ready, her silver eyes flashed open and she pounced forward. She was on top of the guy in less than a few seconds, his messy hair near her nose, his clothing ripping beneath her razor claws. Without a human thought, her teeth clamped down on his right shoulder... the deed was done...
She was screwed, and she realized it the second she tasted hot human blood touch her tongue. It was a taste she had never experienced before, and yet she knew what it was. Oh she had messed up REALLY badly. She quickly hopped off of his body and stared at it from a feet feet away.
SHIT

MAYBE I'M A DIFFERENT BREED
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]The wolf came closer step by terrifying step. Ruf's friendly (though uneasy) smile faltered and his fingers began to tremble. She... wasn't stopping, why wasn't she prancing around like a puppy and bowing in a playful manner? Or trying to lick the practically nonexistent freckles off his face? Instead this creature... no, person (it was still hard to imagine that this being in front of him was anywhere near human) was prowling forward like Rufus was an over-sized Bambi. A billion thoughts started racing through his head: run, fight back, beg for your life! But neither piece of advice gained leverage over the others. He. Was. Frozen. No matter how much she snapped her jaws, and no matter how ferocious her growls became, he couldn't move to save his life. Literally.
Rufus was staring down the barrel of a gun. It fired. The beast lunged like a bullet in slow motion, and all Rufus could make was a quick gasp. But in his mind, secluded from the turmoil raging towards his slender body, rose a serenity Rufus couldn't remember experiencing before. Moments captured in time glided behind his eyes. He remembered his brother's first birthday, his dad returning from deployment, his mom's tired yet beautiful smile, and many other comforting memories. He saw jets flying over one of the military bases his family had lived on. The sky was calm and blue... then it turned red. Red red so much red! Why was everything so red!? There was blood in his eye.
The teen let out a blood curdling scream as he thrashed about on the ground. Something wet splattered onto his neck and the right side of his face. He blindly swung a fist, striking Nikki twice in the muzzle. "OFF!" He screamed again and dug his nails into what he thought was flesh, but managed to only grab fistfuls of snow. Pain crept up his shoulder then burst like fireworks. Again and again he screamed with closed eyes. Eventually he found the strength to open his eyes... to look at the damage done. Blood still clouded the vision in his right eye, but he could still make out torn flesh. And blood. Blood blood so much blood. It spattered the snow beneath his shoulder and dampened his clothes. He gasped again and closed his eyes; maybe he'd be taken back to the memories again. |

Casted out I’m watching your eyes

Connie hummed to herself as she wandered around in the forest, the cold night air barely touching her. She was oblivious as she wondered about the pack. No one had really questioned her on why she had left when the pack had first split, then had come back once her Uncle had taken over. They'd been... Connie shook her head. She had no idea how to explain it. Some of them wouldn't trust her, not yet anyway, and though it hurt, she understood. But she was determined to prove to them that she could be trusted, even if it took years. She didn't think it would though. She had gotten overwhelmed and had told Jason she needed to go. She had gone home first, to try and relax, but couldn't. So instead, she ended up out in the forest again. She'd soon regret her decision to come out into the forest.
As she walked, she began to smell blood. She frowned, and paused, sniffing the air like she was in wolf form, not human. She turned towards the scent, and followed it slowly, stepping around or over twigs and branches, and being as silent as humanly possible. She barely made any noise, and once or twice she paused as she thought about stripping down and changing. It would be easier to move around if she was a wolf, and she could follow the scent easier that way.
Before she could decide, though, she found the kill. She frowned. The deer was killed by a wolf, she could tell that much. She could smell wolf around the clearing. Kneeling down next to the deer, she sniffed. The wolf smelled familiar, but she couldn't quite place-
The scream made Connie jump to her feet and take off towards it. Most people might have tried to run from the scream, but Connie was a bit stronger than most people.
Connie nearly stumbled into the clearing as she tried to skid to a halt. She took in the situation as fast as she could, breathing hard as she looked between the black wolf, and the boy in the snow. "Oh, shit," Connie said, slowly and softly as she looked at the red that coated the snow. She turned her head to look at the black werewolf. "Shit." Was all she could think to say as she started forward, ignoring the wolf. She'd deal with Nikki later, right now she had to stop the boy from bleeding out.
"Hey, kid, hang on there okay? I'll get you patched up and somewhere safe." She took off her coat, then took off her over-shirt. Her tank-top wasn't conducive to the wintry air, but she'd get over it as she ripped her sweater into strips for bandages. She glanced up at Nikki, frowning. "I'll deal with you in a minute."

Oh fucking hell...
Nikki knew she deserved what ever was coming to her. The two whacks Rufus had delivered to her snout were nowhere near the amount of strife she had probably just caused Rufus. She knew, from some of her bitten friends, that Rufus' life was going to change drastically. Secrets he had to keep hidden from everyone, the consequences of getting too angry too close to the full moon, and a bunch of other unpleasant things her bitten friends had told her about. Sure, she thought it was perfectly normal to slip in and out of a wolfish state, but this guy (this very familiar guy by the way) who she just bit... he had no idea what was coming to him.
She was sitting by a tree whimpering softly. She was about to let out a howl for help, when Connie came through the trees. Nikki had never been happier to see one of her superiors than in that moment. Connie would know what to do. Connie could do what needed to be done, while Nikki sat in her corner finding it impossible to shift. Nikki didn't know if it was her unstable mood/state of mind, or if it was fear that kept her in her wolven state. She wanted badly to rush up and help Connie, but being unable to shift she just stared forward... worried that maybe she had taken his life instead of turning him. Either scenario was terribly unthinkable, but somehow she doubted she would be able to live with herself if she had taken this teen's life.
Please, just be alive... don't die yet

MAYBE I'M A DIFFERENT BREED
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]Rufus tried so desperately to draw himself back into a state of remembrance, to separate himself from his pain. His father had warned him once how dangerous it was to daydream when in a critical situation, and as a second lieutenant in the army, well he probably knew best when it came to danger. But, Rufus couldn't be bothered to follow his father's advice. It hurt too much. If he could conjure a mere five seconds of relief, then he would. Yet he couldn't. The pain had become too real and was constantly snapping him out of his dreams. Even the blood dripping down his earlobe, splashing rhythmically against the ground, reminded Rufus of his misfortune. Now fully aware of the pain radiating from his shoulder and collar bone, Rufus ceased his daydreaming. Rather, he bit his lip and wished for his father. Not his advice, but his living and breathing father. Combat boots and all.
Rufus could only wish though, especially since he had no plans to move let alone search for his camouflage sporting dad. Where could he go? Deeper into the expansive forest. What good would that do? Elevate his pain! So he laid there, with red staining his clothes and skin. He remained almost silent, only uttering the occasional whimper and curse, until he heard a voice. 'Oh shit' The voice called out. Never had such vulgarity sounded more sweet. Rufus blinked the blood out of his eyes and cried out. "Help! F-fucking help..." He turned his head to the side and searched for the source of the voice: there... the woman. The werewolf.
He cringed, unsure whether to be happy or more afraid. Only another werewolf would approach this situation so fearlessly. Now the question rang: what did werewolves do when accidents like this happened? Did they help? Or did they bury the evidence? He felt tears intermix with the blood around his eyes, yet he held back his sobs. Rufus had never felt so frightened and uncertain before in his life. Dare I say he was bordering on timid. His voice trembled. "I won't trespass again. Lemme live, jus' lemme li-" She spoke again, causing Rufus to cease his begging. Somewhere safe... so he'd be alright? The wounded eighteen year old watched her movements, at first unsure as to whether he should believe her, but he eventually let a sense of calm wash over. What else was there to do but accept fate? Only to hope for a more merciful one. |

As Connie leaned over Rufus, the boy started begging for his life until her earlier words registered with him. Her stomach churned sourly as she realized he thought she was there to finish the job Nikki started. She wrapped his shoulder, worried about his comments but busied herself with the task at hand. "No one is going to kill you," Connie said finally, softly. "I need to carry you to get you to the safe place. Are you ready?" She draped her coat over him gently, and didn't wait for his answer. She scooped him up, trying to cradle him gently against herself. She looked up at Nikki, who looked nearly as terrified as the boy, and her anger towards the wolf softened.
"Come on Nikki, let's get him back to the pack." She glanced down at the boy in her arms. He barely seemed to weigh anything, and blood was still trying to seep through her make-shift bandages to his shoulder. She was cold in the tank top she wore since she gave him her coat. She sighed a little. Great. That's a second coat she'd probably never get back. At least it wasn't wool...
She started out towards the pack house. It wasn't too far from where they were, and it made her feel a little better. She hoped Jason was there. "Nikki, can you shift?" She wondered if the girl would be able to run ahead to the pack and shift back to warn anyone that was there that she was coming in with a soon-to-be new wolf. She sighed. This was so not what she wanted to deal with in her first week back in the pack...

My parents are going to kill me, Connie's going to kill me, Jason's going to kill me, and I wouldn't be surprised if this guy was going to kill me too once he got up on his feet again.
Nikki figured she was pretty much dead, if not literally than metaphorically. This was the biggest trip up that had ever occurred to her, and it was certainly the most frightening. Sure, a few of her relatives were bitten wolves, but that meant little to her in her situation. She had done this on accident and intended to stick with it (like how wolves were supposed to), but most bitten wolves she had met either never knew who bit them or had been planning it for a while. She felt like she was a bit of an odd ball case, and she didn't know what to do.
Then again when you're a werewolf cowering from your superior in human form and the person you just bit, it's not like you were supposed to do anything until you were told. Nikki had been blanking out on everything Connie had been doing. Sure, she knew Connie was talking to the guy and the guy was responding, and that Connie was patching him up. However, she could never tell you what exactly they were talking about. Her mind was so frozen in shock of what she had done that she jumped a bit when she heard her name.
Shift? Could she? She had tried before Connie had arrived, but she was a lot more jittery and frantic. Maybe if she calmed down and thought for a minute. Taking a few deep breaths (something she found hard to do in her wolf state) her heartbeat began to slow down to a normal pace. Then she concentrated on her human form, willing her self to shift.
It was a bit more painful than she had expected. With a yelp somewhere between wolf and human, she was sitting in the grass in her human form. Her hair was tousled and her skin was tinged pink from the cold air, but she raised her eyes to meet Connie's. She was silently asking what to do.

MAYBE I'M A DIFFERENT BREED
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 355px;]Was he ready? Was he honestly ready to peel himself away from the bloody snow (which he originally declared his resting place) and walk to some unknown location? "Not really..." His ever rising stress cracked his voice like a boy much younger than he, yet he did not blush. Honestly, even if he was embarrassed, no blood would have scorched his cheeks. It was much too occupied leaking from his wounds. Rufus could already feel the bandages wrapped around his shoulder starting to dampen. The boy had just begun to writhe uncomfortably on the ground, convinced Connie would let him be, when the werewolf scooped him off the crime scene.
Rufus gasped and dropped his head back in pain. Though Connie had not touched the cuts themselves, even the slightest stretching of his skin was painful. The wounded teen let out a low groan and just barely resisted the urge to knock himself out of Connie's arms; it didn't take a genius to know he wasn't much better lying in the snow. So he let her carry him, his legs dangling awkwardly over her arms and head lolling to the side. His shoulder throbbed in an ever present reminder of Ruf's costly mistake. But that wasn't the only body part hurting now. His head... he could feel his brow start to pulse. Why was he having a headache now? She hadn't clipped his head had she!? Rufus let out a quiet whimper of terror, obviously unaware that he was experiencing the first signs of the shift from human to bitten werewolf.
Ruf held back his whimpers for most of the walk, but he was still horribly unhappy. The normally horny teen couldn't even be bothered to glance over Nikki's nakedness. For once, the last thing Rufus was thinking about was sex... hell must have frozen over. Ruf fixed his eyes on the needled branches hanging above their heads. Once more he tried to daydream away the pain, dream of soft beds and warm houses. Nothing prickly or unsettling. No pine needles. |

Connie glanced at Rufus as his head lolled, and she gently shifted him so his head was more on her shoulder than just hanging there. He might have been a tall guy, but he was too damn skinny. She thought his body temp was heating up, and part of her was starting to panic. Holy crap, he wasn't going to just change now was he? She didn't think it usually started that fast.
Glancing over, she saw Nikki changing and she sighed. She hadn't meant for the girl to change now, but it was no matter. She picked her coat off Rufus and dropped it over the prone form of the naked girl, trying to help her cover herself. "Run to the pack house. We need to warn them what's going on. That way they can have everything ready for me when I get there." She reached out and gently touched Nikki's cheek, managing to shift Rufus enough so she wouldn't drop him when she did.
"Accidents happen, Nikki," She said very gently to the girl. She looked oddly numb, like she'd gone beyond terrified at what she'd done and had closed herself down. "You'll need to be there for him, you know. He's your responsibility now." She glanced at the boy she held cradled against her, and looked back at Nikki. She had shifted her hand back to supporting Rufus. "Now go, fast as you can. Don't stay out in this cold too long wearing nothing but my coat." She waved Nikki off, hoping the girl could manage to run as fast as she could in this snow.
She started walking again, heading as fast as she could without hurting Rufus any more than he already was. Running was out of the question, she couldn't run with him injured in her arms, it would make wound worse. As it was, walking with him probably wasn't a good idea but she had no other choice. She couldn't very well leave him in the snow, could she?

It didn't really matter when Nikki changed, just that she was able to. She hadn't thought she would be able to, but fortunately she had proved herself otherwise. The air was very cold, and despite her werewolf natural heating system, she was still shivering quite a bit. She was greatful for the coat Connie handed to her then.
"Thank you..." she murmured slightly as she pulled it around her, it blocked a good deal of the cold air and covered enough of her. If she had had her normal self-conscious vibes, the coat would have gotten rid of most of them. That however was nowhere near Nikki's mind, her mind was more focused on the tattooed guy she had bitten. Now that she was thinking in a bit clearer fashion she really did think this person was familiar... she couldn't put her finger on it, or nose for that matter. He smelled a lot more familiar than he looked.
Connie gave Nikki her directions, she needed to get to the pack house and warn them. She was about to do a top speed sprint when Connie's hand reached up and touched her cheek. Nikki's normally mischievous purple eyes were wide-eyed and wild with worry. They calmed though with Connie's softer words. It didn't ease all of the craziness Nikki was feeling, but it certainly helped better than yelling or cross words.
When Connie had re-positioned herself, fixing her hold on the crumbled bloody mass in her arms, Nikki nodded slightly. She was off, dashing in between the trees the same second Connie had waved her off. She knew the forest like the back of her hand, and she didn't even think twice about the turns she was making to get to the house. She was there soon enough, and the minute she opened the door she knew. Nobody was home, nobody would be helping Connie and her. Instead of freaking out, Nikki thought through every place they kept first aid kits (they had a lot) and started to run around finding them. It was only a few minutes before she had multiple white boxes with red crosses on them stacked up. She didn't remember where anymore were, but she started bringing up a cot from the basement as she waited for Connie.
