The snow was melting. It wasn't melted... but it was melting. And while the ground was soggy - grass covered or no - Rufus thought it comfy enough to lay down on. Damn it, he was a boy and boys got dirty! Who cared if he got a little mud... everywhere. So be it. He dragged his fingers along the mud, drawing smiley faces as he pleased, then grinned back at his own mediocre drawings. Perhaps he'd search for some real company later... you know, with people? Maybe Charlie! Rufus enlarged one of the smiley's so that it grinned ecstatically. He hadn't known Charlie - the little Walizi omega - for very long, but he was a cheerful kid if not a little awkward. They'd hit it off pretty fast with their chit chat and jokes. Rufus always enjoyed an ear to spill his guts to, and Charlie - with his accepting and submissive nature - gave him just that. They'd even joked around in front of Walizi manor, unaware of the attention they might later draw to themselves.

The sun was high in the sky as Cal walked through the forest, the air around him warmer than it had been in awhile. It brought a smile to the alpha's face. He was so ready for Spring. His boots sloshed in the melting snow as he walked and the alpha looked up at that cloudless sky, so so happy to see the blue stretching from horizon to horizon. It was then he bumped into someone and growled, automatically blaming the other person. "What the hell, man! Watch it." He snapped, glaring down at the wolf. It was then he caught his scent. "Orion." His growl turned into a soft snarl, glaring down at the kid with a venomous glare. Great. Fucking fantastic. Excuse the alpha while he goes to boil himself to sanitize himself from touching an Orion.

Rufus was far too absorbed in his doodling to pick of the Walizi alpha's scent... and even if he had, it was highly unlikely that he would have been able to identify said scent. He could barely recognize Cayden's scent, let alone a stranger from a different pack. Such was the burden of being a new wolf, alien to new abilities and forms. But as Cal's boot struck his lower back, Rufus had no choice but to recognize the fact that he was not alone. Rather, he was in the presence of a somewhat... agitated individual. "I'm just sitting in the mud, dude." He blinked up at the other and began to smile, as he usually did around strangers. "Yeah, I'm from the Orion pack... name's Rufus, yourself?" The cheery teen wasn't oblivious to the alpha's glare. In fact, he noticed it fairly quickly. But why should he contribute to making this first meeting sour?

He glared at the younger wolf. He couldn't understand why at first, but he smelled so familiar. He thought back to the surrounding land on Walizi Manor. He had always smelled a new strange scent. And then he realized. "Why are you always on my territory?" He growled, staring at the Orion. "Yeah, I know where your from. Which is why next time I scent you near my- Rufus? What fucking kind of name is Rufus?" The alpha shook his head and grumbles, deciding being a hundred percent sour would get him no where. "Callum." He said his name proudly. His father had come up with the name. The alpha would cherish it forever.

Rufus absently continued to draw in the mud - squiggles, smiley faces, swirls, etc - as he stared up at the fuming alpha. "Charlie!" He nodded his head so hard that a lock of dark hair fell across his pale face, contrasting with his lighter eyes. "Aye, Charlie. We've been talking quite a bit lately.. he's one of yours right? Well, sometimes we hang out in front of the packhouse. I never go inside.. but Charlie said it'd be fine if we stayed outside." The teenager flashed another grin, then broke his expression with a loud laugh. What sort of name was Rufus? "Well... it's one with five letters, starts with an R, and rhymes with doofus." He grinned cheekily, having no qualms about making fun of himself.

Cal was a bit surprised when his stomach churned behind his abs. Was that.... Jealousy? The alpha growled. "Stay the hell away from Charlie. And stay the hell away from my Pack House." He glared coldly. "I don't need the whole of Orion hanging on my doorstep." He grumbled as he watched the young wolf. He rolled his eyes. Smart ass. He couldn't help but smile a bit. This kid had attitude. In a cheery kind of way. It was annoying. But admirable. Callum enjoyed the smart asses. If only Charlie had some attitude. The alpha shrugged off the thought and looked at Rufus. "How long have you known Charlie?"

Cal's order startled him. Yes, the alpha was aggressive from the start. Yes, he seemed to have a grudge for the skinny lad. But Rufus hadn't expected full on banishment from Charlie... well no matter! Rufus was a smooth talker. "But Charlie said he gets lonely when you're gone." Not a lie in any way, shape, or form. Rufy cast a smile at the older male. "It's true. He talks about you... it's pretty cute actually. He's like a kid with his first crush." His tactics seemed to be working; Cal was asking for more about him. "About two weeks or so. He's a real good kid." Despite Charlie's older age, Rufus already felt decades older. Perhaps Charlie would always act like a kid looking for guidance and a shoulder to lean on... Rufus had to wonder.

The alpha stared at Rufus, just stood there and stared. Charlie got lonely? But he had Balto, didn't he? It was then Cal got an idea and he smirked. "So you like Charlie, huh?" He asked, tilting his head slightly. He needed more wolves anyway. And here was a wolf. A new one to. He smiled a bit. "Then perhaps..." He kneeled by the wolf. "You can join im." He chuckled darkly and suddenly had Rufus pinned to the ground. "Can't stay off my property. Can't leave my wolves alone." He growled and his nailed formed into claws, ripping three parallel lines into Rufus's hip that would heal into thick, visible scars. "So now you get to BE one of my wolves." And with that, he finished marking Rufus.

"Duh, I already told you that we were friends." Rufus turned away from Cal - if only for a brief moment - to drag his fingers through the mud. Why? Because mud is fun to play with, that's why! But nature's fingerpaint suddenly traveled from his fingers, to his face... he didn't plan it either. "What are you d-" Rufus spat mud out of his mouth before resuming his question of panic, "doing!?" His answer was some... demonic chuckle. The second he saw claws, Ruf began to fight; he jerked his elbow up and tried to break Callum's nose. He even attempted to smash mud in the other's face. His father always told him that fighting dirty was a last resort... but here he was, pressed into the mud with a stranger on top of him, claws extended. Seemed appropriate given the situation. The alpha's claws struck home anyway. Rufus let out a yelp - a sound too animal for any human to master - and tried to kick out at Cal's gut. "Fucker! Not one of your wolves!" Once friendly and joking, Rufus was currently falling victim to the new wolf's plague: his temper.

Cal laughed softly, still pinning him. "You don't have a choice. You bear my mark. You are my wolf." He growled playfully and stroked the boy's muddy hair, claws gently scraping his skull. "Your going to be a nice addition to my ranks." He smirked, getting up and taking a step back. He was ready if the wolf decided to attack. His wolf was close to the surface, ready to snap Cal in half and take the wolf form. He growled softly. "I stole you from Orion, whatcha going to do about it?" A test. This was a test for Cal to see how strong Rufus was.

Rufus laughed something sharp and angry; it was a laugh seemingly alien to the usually pleasant boy... yet again, was that just the human in him? "Do you see a collar around my neck? I'm not your wolf!" The teen growled and pressed his body low into the dirt as Cal stroked his hair. He'd rather eat dirt than be petted in such a demeaning manner. But the very moment Cal stood up, Ruf had jumped to his feet too. Mud smeared his face and hung onto his bottom lip... finger paint had turned to war paint. "What am I gonna do?" He snapped his teeth together, now long and threatening. Rufus wanted to hurt him. He wanted to slash his face and his... his throat? A look a hesitance passed over Ruf's face; he couldn't kill him. That wasn't him. He couldn't... "I'm not following you, ya fucker." He stepped back and tensed his muscles, ready to make a break for the tree line. Rufus would find his own means of defying Cal's rule.

Cal laughed softly. "Oh? Not going to follow me?" He asked. Cal quickly went through his options. The basement was one. Family was another. "I'm not to sure that's wise. Not when I can make a meal of your family." He grinned, his teeth slightly extended to those of a wolf's teeth. "Daddy dearest looks very tasty." He smirked, watching Rufus. "But then again, if you can be loyal then your family doesn't have to get involved." Wow, Cal. Just wow. He realized then he was turning into the person he hated most. Tyson. But then again, desperate alphas go to desperate measures for wolves.

Rufus kept up his march while running a plan through his head; first he'd take a shower, second he'd slather the cut in neosporin, and third he'd drink the rest of the day away. Maybe he'd even have a cigarette or tw- family? The lanky teen froze as his eyes grew wide; a deer in the headlights, and Cal was the predator. "What did you just say?" He hadn't really... threatened to do that. No, no one would ever threaten his family, right? Rufus couldn't... lose his family, not ever! But moment by painstaking moment passed by, and Rufus knew that Cal had in fact threatened to put his family - his father in particular - on the cutting board.
Rufus clutched at his heart and hunched over, as if someone had punched him directly in the stomach then pulled out his beating organ. He turned to face Cal with a pale yet mud covered complexion. Ruf exhaled with tentative snarls and warned Cal... but there was incredible fear in his voice. "Don't touch them..." His family was everything to him, and Rufus could not live to see them pass in an untimely manner. For then, he would cease to exist.

Another smirk formed in Cal's face. "You heard me. I'll make a meal of your family. Why? Because I'm hungry, to be quite honest." He admitted. And his statement was backed up his stomach which made a sound that was quite similar to a dying walrus. He sighed softly. Okay, kid. Here's the rules. If you tell anyone I forced you to join, or even hint, I will put your family in the dirt. You aren't Orion anymore. Your Walizi now. Got it?" He growled and gripped the kid's shirt by his chest, pulling him close. "Don't want to lose your family, do you?" He asked with a slightly snotty tone. He released the kid. "I want you at the house by ten tonight. So I can get you situated." And with that, Cal turned to leave.

Having Cal repeat the threat... it sent shivers through his body; he felt like bugs were crawling under his skin. They gnawed at his heart and stomach. They made him empty. And all Cal had done was utter one, cruel threat. "Y-you can't just murder my... my family. I won't let you." His voice quivered in his throat. Rufus wasn't confident... how could he be!? This devil incarnate had killed hunters before - as Charlie told him earlier - and Rufus was just some scrawny boy. He knew how to fight, yes, but he wasn't a trained assassin. Ruf's blue eyes - usually so bright and cheery - now clouded with misery as he came to a final decision; he wouldn't let Cal hurt his family, but he wouldn't fight him either. He would follow. He would listen. He would be a Walizi wolf. Cal yanked forward the teary eyed boy and mocked him further, to which Rufus weakly replied. "No... I don't want to lose them." He met Cal's eyes, tried his best at a glare, then moved his gaze down to the ground as the alpha took off. Rufus slumped to the ground and pulled his knees to his chest. He spent nearly three hours trying to come up with some plan, but all he see was the same heart stomping solution: suffer for your family.
