Who knew it would be so easy for the little girl to wander out from under the alpha's thumb as often as she does? When Jason first had told her that she had to stay with him at the pack house, she thought she was screwed. She thought it would be like a prison and that the big man would be hard for her to avoid. She thought he'd be watching her every move, in spite of the speech that he had given her the night he had ruled that she had no choice but to join the pack. Everleigh thought that life as she knew it was now over.
It turned out, though, that Jason had a lot of responsibilities that kept him out of the house more than she had anticipated. And it was on this day that J was, once again, out and about and not keeping track of the newest addition to his family. The pack house had been all but empty, as far as Ever could tell, before she snuck out the back door and into the woods. Of course, figuring out where the child was going wouldn't be hard for anyone who knew the child. All Everleigh wanted was her cave back. It had been her safe place for over a year and leaving wasn't a decision she had made herself. Obviously, she would want to go back whenever she could.
Besides, she still had some of her stuff hidden around that area. If for no other reason, she wanted to go back for her things. And that would be the excuse she would use if she got caught...not that she wasn't praying that wouldn't happen. She was more than aware that she would be in very deep trouble if anyone found her hanging around her cave. Jason had expressly forbidden her from going back, especially alone and the whole pack knew it. If anyone found her here, she was a dead child.
The fear just wasn't enough to keep her away today so, looking around for the thousandth time, Ever took a deep breath and ran the rest of the way into her little home. Sniffing around for a moment, the child then knelt down about six feet into the entrance and started to dig with her fingers. It took a while but eventually the kid had a hole dug up that was about a foot deep and that was when she finally found it. The handkerchief that she had planted there months ago was still there. The little one couldn't unwrap its contents or even touch what was inside but that didn't matter. All she wanted was this particular item to be close to her.
Gathering the item into her pocket of her jeans, Everleigh was just turning to go when the rumbling started. At first, the little girl had no clue what that sound was but then the walls started to shake and bits and pieces of stone started falling around her. She managed to turn quickly towards the mouth of the cave but she wasn't fast enough. It was right at the lip of the cave opening that one of the rocks fell and hit her hard enough in the head to knock her out. After that everything was black and the entrance of the cave started to become walled up in front of her, effectively hiding the child from sight.

Connie had gotten to the pack house a couple hours ago, looking for Jason. But he wasn't there, and neither was anyone else. Brows knitting together, she paced about the house, picking up scents of the different wolves that lived there. She sneezed, trying to clear her nose. It smelled as if Ever had left sometime after Jason, but it was so hard to tell. Jason's scent was the strongest by far of everyone's there, but it was fading slowly. And Ever's was fading too. She thought Luk might be in school, but had no idea what the teenager did really. She wanted to get to know him better, but hadn't had the chance between her job and her nightmares that plagued her so much recently.
Scowling, Connie went outside to follow Ever's scent. She hoped to find Jason or Luk, but she had a feeling she knew where the child went. She sighed, and stopped outside the back door. Would it be so bad, really, to let the child go down there to the cave and play? Connie had been there, she thought it had been relatively sturdy. But then again, Connie knew little about these things.
She paced, thinking. Fear was close on her heels, but she had no idea why she was afraid. Some instinct that the wolf had picked up on? It was nearing six now, and the fact that it was getting dark worried her. Even if Ever had run off to her cave, she would have been back by now, right?
"Ever... Where are you?" Connie whispered as she started to walk slowly out to Ever's cave. The trail of her scent went that way, so she had to assume that's where the girl went. Why was she so scared of the girl playing in her cave?

Like Luk would ever attend school. Technically, he was supposed to start the day with some tutoring sessions with Jason, but he asked if they could move that to later in the day. Least he didn't just ditch the lessons all together, though he had considered it. He had too much to think about. Not so much brooding but... thinking. Ever since Jason had signed those papers - adoption papers to be precise - he had felt just so... happy. He felt light and airy. Course he'd barely cracked more than one smile a day, but inside he didn't feel as weighed down anymore. He had issues... a whole shit load of issues. He probably always would. But they were just.. quieted for a little bit. Lukan felt free and just damn happy! Could J really expect him to spend his time studying and learning when he had this delight filling his heart!?
Lukan was perfectly content to spend the day lying... in the clearing? Hmm, for once not in a tree. Yet again, trees tended to be his safe place - he hid in them rather than relaxed - while the clearing was a brighter setting. Figuratively and literally. Luk cleared himself a little spot in the snow and stretched out, his chest facing the sky. The weather was cold and frigid, but he couldn't give a crap. Not even the wet dirt sinking into his clothes could phase him. A good week... he'd had a damn good week. But his moment of relaxation - a very rare moment indeed - was interrupted when he heard Connie calling for Ever.
He could have closed his eyes again. He could have let Connie handle it. But this was... Ever. Lukan felt pretty damn responsible for her ever since the eclipse. So, in an attempt to play superman, Luk followed after Connie. "What's wrong?" He said it more like: tell me what's wrong naow?

Connie was sniffing around the back yard, feeling a bit like a dog, when Luk popped up nearly out of nowhere and nearly startling Connie. She'd been so focused on finding Ever's scent to be sure she headed in the right direction, and hadn't noticed Lukan. "Jesus Luk you scared me to death..." She muttered, rubbing her face with her hands. She sighed and looked up, worry in her eyes.
"Luk, have you seen Ever anywhere?" She asked him, suddenly worried that he too hadn't seen her. "I just got back from school and stopped by here to ask Jason a question, but he's not here. So I figured I'd say hi to Everleigh, but..." She trailed off, frowning. "Well, she wasn't in the pack house. When I tried to sniff her out, her scent had faded as if she had been gone for awhile." Connie tilted her head, and looked down towards where the child's cave was.
"Luk, something's wrong. I don't know what... I think Ever went back to her cave. Her scent trail leads down that way. Will you come with me?" She motioned towards where the cave was. She didn't know if she'd need Luk's help to find the child, but she knew how close the two had gotten after the eclipse and she wanted to include him in on finding her.

Connie's look of surprise drew a smirk on Lukan's lips; he didn't usually aim to scare people, but it definitely boosted his ego to know that he had the capability to sneak up on a delta. But whatever amusement Lukan had managed to muster suddenly dashed away at the delta's question. "Luk, have you seen Ever anywhere?" He scowled and drew his eyebrows down. Damn it, he was almost happy for a full day! His mind immediately jumped to the worst conclusions, as was in his pessimistic nature. She was lost, cold, or worse... she was very cold. Dead. A hunter could have gotten to her and filled her full of silver bullets! The boy's face grew pallid as his stomach twisted anxiously. But his words... they reflected little of this fear. "I'm sure she's around somewhere." Why the lie? Because he didn't want to accept his paranoia as the truth.. he really couldn't handle that.
Lukan started off at a run towards the cave. He felt somewhat.. reassured, thinking that she was in the cave. Luk didn't put any thought into the potential dangers of being in such an environment. He was a tree guy, the hell was he supposed to know about caves!? But either way, he'd try to find her. She was his responsibility. Jason could control and care for the pack as a whole, but Ever was Luk's to protect.
His heart dropped. "Is... is that the cave?" Luk's blue eyes grew wide at the sight before him; the cave's entrance was blocked with piles upon piles of rocks. The teen lunged for the nearest rock - scraping the palm of his hang along the jagged surface - and tugged it out of the way. "EVER!?" He smelled her. He just hoped desperately that the smell of blood wouldn't reach him too. What if the rock-slide didn't just cover the entrance... what if it collapsed on the inside!? Lukan growled and yanked back another rock as his heart beat frantically.

Connie watched Luk as she asked him if he had seen Ever. She saw the scowl, and felt bad for worrying him about it. But if Ever was in trouble, Luk would get mad at her for not telling him in the first place, and she didn't want him mad at her.
"Yeah, I'm sure Ever is here somewhere..." She said softly, replying to his comment. She was right next to him as they moved towards the cave, her heart thudding. But when they finally came to the cave, she barely heard Luk's words before he screamed Ever's name. She felt the same way. The cave entrance was blocked by rubble, and inside she could just make out Ever's tiny voice calling for help.
Connie was beside Luk in an instant, helping him shove rocks out of the way, getting her own scraped palms and knuckles as she tried to dig out the child. "Ever! Hang in there sweetie, we're coming for you!" A line of fire sliced along one forearm, but she ignored the pain as she made a small opening. It was maybe big enough for Ever, but not for Luk or Connie.
"Luk, there's an opening in the rocks here. But we can't fit. We need to widen it so one of us can squeeze in there and pull her out. If we pull out too many of these rocks, the rest of the cave might collapse before we can get in there."
