appearance;; For someone nearly 40 years old, William keeps himself in remarkably good shape through use of military training regiments. Will stands at 6'2, one inch taller than his son, and weighs 189 lbs. He prefers to keep his hair short but his face a little on the scruffy side when he's not under inspection. He claims his wife likes him a little prickly anyway, along with his intense green eyes. Will also has his children's and wife's names tattooed on his back in banners, and an American eagle on his left pectoral.
As for William's clothing, he tends to wear the average man's outfit of a t-shirt and jeans, but usually with some combat boots thrown into the mix. He also tends to wear a leather jacket or one of his old military jackets whenever the urge strikes him to look a little more badass than the usual dad.
personality;; Always the intimidating persona, Will doesn't exactly scream family man at a first glance. But, most of his life after high school revolves entirely on being not only a better father, but a better man than his own dad. Unlike his cowardly father, William lives for his family and country, and he absolutely embodies the idea that a real man will sacrifice anything for the ones he loves. Will also believes his way of living is by far the best. To him, it's always going to be "my way or the highway." Needless to say, Will is a pretty stubborn individual with a rather close minded approach to life.
Will incorporates his stubborn views in every aspect of life, his family life included. For a disciplined military man, Will doesn't have a lot of rules for his boys to follow; don't backtalk, don't fuck up the house, no ignoring your punishments, and no hurting someone (unless they really deserve it). However, Will is very strict about these rules being followed and can become a bit overbearing towards his boys. He won't accept any whining about it either. In this sense, Will has brought military discipline into his house. The thirty-nine year old's close minded yet protective personality also affects his view regarding werewolves. Since his first encounter with a werewolf was far from pleasant, Will has immediately labeled all werewolves as threats. Anything that can make a soldier run simply can't be safe, right? He's currently determined to protect his loved ones even when he's not deployed by working as a hunter, and he won't listen to reason, not yet anyway.
His nature towards weres put aside, William can also be a very loving and understanding man, provided nothing is offending his rigid beliefs. He's loyal to both his friends and family, something his dad never was, and will gladly open up to those he's close to. However, it takes a lot for Will to admit that he needs help. Even to close friends, Will likes to act as if he's in control 24/7. He'd much rather be the one giving advice than receiving it, even though his advice isn't always right.
family;; Jones Austin Bailey/ father/ sixty-five/ retired
Jacqueline Olivia Bailey/ mother/ sixty-one/ housewife
Samantha Leah Bailey/ wife/ thirty-nine/ housewife
Rufus Lee Bailey/ eldest son/ eighteen
Adam Jay Bailey/ youngest son/ eight
history;; Though he now claims he was born in battle with a rifle already in hand, Will was actually born in Terre Haute, Indiana on September 14, 1973. His father, Jones Bailey, wasn't there for his birth... or rather, he wasn't in the same room. Mr. Bailey left to sit in the hospital waiting room after his stomach twisted a little too much for comfort. This would be the first of many times William's father would desert him over a lack of bravery. Jones eventually walked back into the room to welcome his son into the world, though he looked a little green while doing so, and proceeded to drive both his wife and son back to their house nested in the center of the city. Only minutes after arriving, Will's dad was called back to his job as an assistant to a wealthy railroad tycoon. What important task would take Jones away from his newborn son? Stacking paper and organizing files, those real necessities.
William's father was always at his employer's beck and call, no matter the circumstance. The man was not a workaholic of any sort, but a coward and a pushover. He could never find the guts to tell his boss no. As a young child, Will took little notice in his father's yellow behavior. He played more with his friends than he did his father, but as Will started to focus on sports like football and soccer, he began to crave for his father's attention. He couldn't help but want a little support at his sports games. But William found himself repeatedly met with his father's catchphrases, "I'm busy" or "Perhaps later." After years of this behavior, Will learned to expect no more than his mom standing on the sidelines. By the time William hit the teenage years, he started to not want his father around him, let alone at his games. He didn't want any of Jones' cowardice to rub off on him.
As a teen, Will was an average student with a fairly indifferent attitude towards his school. He preferred to goof off with his friends in the back of the class, but he somewhat paid attention in order to spare himself the wooden spoon when report cards came out. William also engaged himself in a few extra curricular activities, primarily football. By junior year he was the co-captain of the football team and helping the rest of the guys prepare for the championships. On game night, the crowd was tense with anticipation. The score was tied and the game had gone into overtime. William looked up at the crowd and grinned; his father was here today, and he promised to stay. Normally Will wouldn't even try to convince his father to come to a game, even the championships, but Mr. Bailey showed quite a bit of determination to stay... probably something his wife said to him. Even if his dad was only here because of Mrs. Bailey's insisting, Will didn't care. He didn't want his father to miss this.
With barely a minute left on the clock, the two teams took their places at the yard line. Will, a cornerback, intercepted the ball and sent a roar of splendor through the crowd as he bolted towards the end zone. He scored the final touchdown and won the championship for his school. Amidst the celebrating, many of the football fans poured onto the field. Will looked eagerly for his parents to join into the excitement, but was met only by his mother. When questioned, Will's mother revealed that Jones got a call from his boss and left before the last play. The sixteen year old couldn't enjoy the celebration anymore, not when his father had so blatantly broken his promise. William changed out of his football gear and stormed home to confront his father. What proceeded was something of a mix between a human volcanic eruption and a hurricane, all coming from Will. His dad merely stood there, mildly protesting, but for the most part he was stunned. At some point, Jones tried to say something about how he really did want to stay at the game, but Will shot him down. "Then why didn't you!?" He screamed. Will then began to criticize his father's every gutless action in a rage. Years of tension between the two family members had finally snapped the very delicate bond between them.
William vowed to become a different man than his father. He wouldn't be a spineless man on a leash, nor would he betray his loved ones just for a job. He wanted to be brave, loyal, and a real damn role model. Will didn't want to work in a pathetic desk job either. No, he'd already picked out his career by the time senior year came around; he wanted to join the military. Will signed up the week he finished high school and moved to Fort Campbell in Kentucky, despite his parent's suggestions to go to college instead. He needed to prove right then that he was a better man than his father, and the military was how he planned to do it.
Will was in the process of completing his army training at Fort Campbell when he met his future wife, Samantha. At the time, Samantha was working towards becoming a combat nurse, while Will was absorbed into the traditional idea of joining the infantry. Will soared through most of his training and became one of the top in his class. But the eighteen year old was not exempt from the clumsiness of the everyday man. Perhaps that's why he slipped in the shower and sprained his wrist on the fourth week of training. During that day, the embarrassed man hurried off to the infirmary for treatment while shrugging away his comrades' laughter. He was assigned to Samantha, and his injuries would be a part of her own training. As she treated the light sprain, Will tried to convince her he'd gotten the wound trying to stop two privates from fighting. Samantha rubbed the soap scum between her fingers and eyed him with mock suspicion, but then she laughed. Will soon joined in with his own sheepish laughter.
Her laugh delighted him to such an extent that he continued to visit her for the remainder of his training. Every time an older nurse would shoo him away with disapproval. However, eventually they grew accustomed to the young man showing up, and would occasionally turn a blind eye to his presence. They also figured this was the best way to stop him from hurting himself just to see Samantha. William still thinks the nurses let him in because they could already see the love the two trainees had for each other. Whether they could see it or not, Will and Samantha were in love, and three years later they married in a military ceremony. A short five months later, Samantha grew pregnant. The couple never exactly planned for children, but when their first born came along they were pleasantly surprised if not a little bewildered. At the first signs of pregnancy, Samantha dropped out of the nursing service, but William continued with his ambitions in order to receive an income. The couple lived on base, and thus, Rufus Lee Bailey was introduced to the military lifestyle when his eyes first opened.
A few months after Ruf's birth, William was deployed for the first time to fight in the Iraq war. Most of his deployment went smoothly after he was able to accept the shock of his first kill. After months he'd quickly come up with the philosophy that killing sucks, but you had to do it. To William, it was a necessary evil. Within ten months he was stationed back home and planning to go to college. Once in college, he enrolled in the ROTC army program so he could qualify for an officer position. After for years of school, Will graduated and started receiving commission as a second lieutenant. William was then deployed again two years after his graduation.
While deployed, he Skyped with his family often... though he often wasn't pleased with the stories about his son's behavior. Will was ultimately a good, if not overbearing, father for his eldest son. Three years after he returned home for the second time, he was there to welcome his youngest son, Adam, into the world. William kicked into over time as a dad, something his own father never did. He went to sports games, hosted parties for the kids, and spent hours a day with his kids. There was only so much time he had in between deployments, and he didn't want to become the forgettable father.
In 2011, William left for his most recent tour in Iraq. Like his past deployments, most of the mission went by smoothly. However, one trip to the base's mess hall ended in a rather frightful encounter with Captain William Bright, Bill for short. The two got into a little argument about the superiority of one military branch over the other. It was only when Bill got into Will's face that he noticed the other's strange appearance; yellow eyes and sharp teeth. William instantly backed up and sprinted out of the mess hall in a near panic, despite his usual brave behavior. After he spent an hour trying to convince his very skeptical fellow soldiers that he'd seen some sort of demon, Will finally gave up and resorted to his own research. His research concluded that Bill, this demon of sorts, was in fact a werewolf. Will had seen the teeth, and those devil eyes... werewolves couldn't be trusted, could they? Not if they were all like Bill. Will was about to label the matter as spooky and forget about it when his wife decided to move the family down to Converse, apparently a werewolf hotspot. Now settling into his new home, Will has yet to put his rifles away...
