Whitebridge South Dakota was proving to be an interesting little town to the new stray werewolf. Rin had moved to the american mid-west town only a week ago and already it was proving to be a good choice in her mind. Although she hadn't met any, there was the faint smell of werewolves in the air and some places was stronger than others but it was there mixed with the smell of just your average joe humans. Everyone was pleasant enough too. Moving into her small Converse apartment Rin had the pleasure of meeting some of her neighbours who were nice enough to do some of the heavier lifting. Not that it was necessary but it was a generous gesture, one she was sure to have been brought on by her petite frame. Her small and delicate features were often the cause for people misjudging her and her abilities... not that it was always a bad thing. Today she had ventured forth from the small town to the slightly larger adjacent town of Whitebridge to do some exploring and see about maybe meeting some new people. After living in semi-forced isolation for so long after her "accident", Rin rarely turned down an opportunity to meet new friends. Stuffing her hands into the pocket of her winter jacket she hummed to herself as her boots kicked up the snow.

Having spent the last few days indoors nursing his wounds David was about to go stir crazy if he did not leave his apartment. He hated being locked within a small area for too long; he had to get out of whatever was confining him and in a sense run free. Even if said ‘confinement’ was his own home. When he had been a teenager his parents had gone through hell trying to ground him to his room. At the time he had been notorious for climbing through windows for freedom. So now a small part of him was dying to climb through his window just for old times’ sake and run down the street grinning like a mad man that had finally escaped the asylum.
However thankfully he wasn’t a mad man escaping an asylum and simply slipped on a pair of loose fitting jeans a tee shirt with his favorite leather jacket and a scarf to wrap around his neck. He did after all have to play the part of a human in the cold. Even if the slight chill in the air wasn’t enough to make him shiver. Deciding for a small change in scenery he made his way over to the next town of Whitebridge. Even here the smell of the pack, or now packs, hung within the air. However as he made his way down the street he couldn’t help but notice a new scent. Arching his brow slightly he decided to check the scent out before slowly coming up on a petite figure. “I’m just going to come out and say that you’re new here correct?” he asked her from behind.

Although she wasn’t a mere human, she found the chill of Whitebridge was more than she was used to. Thankfully she’d had the foresight to inquire about the weather she would likely be facing in that area before moving and picked up some items that seemed appropriate in pretending to still be normal. As she wandered up and down the streets haphazardly trying to find a suitable place to set up a bakery (though she was beginning to think Converse would be a better idea if only so she wouldn’t have to make the small commute), she smiled and nodded to the odd passer-by she met and allowed herself to drift into mental comparisons between her old home and her new home. As Rin continued to hum and think of home, she remained completely oblivious to the individual walking up behind her and downwind from her until he spoke.
Although she had heard footsteps in the back of her mind, she had thought nothing of them and considered them to be steps of just another shopper. Coming to a dead stop in the middle of the sidewalk, she stiffened a little as she finally caught the whiff of another werewolf. Slowly, she turned around and gave the guy a sheepish look. “Is it that obvious? It’s the jacket, isn’t it?” She inquired half-jokingly as she glanced down at the warm shell. “I just moved to Converse about a week ago.” Rin confirmed his questioned suspicion about her being new as she raised her eyes from the snow to his, a small and polite smile on her lips. She could smell the scent more clearly now that she wasn’t walking away from it. Finally, her first real werewolf! Well, other than her.

He couldn’t help but smirk lightly as the woman that he had been following for a few blocks turned around and looked at him after he had spoken. He wouldn’t say that it was that obvious, the weather was still warm enough to warrant a lighter jacket; especially if you were use to extremely colder temperatures. Reaching up slightly he tapped the tip of his nose lightly. “I wouldn’t say it’s that obvious, but I’ve gotten pretty use to recognizing the scents of most the wolves in this area.” She didn’t smell like a pack wolf, so that too was another give away for him.
Dave couldn’t help but feel just a bit put on the spot as she seemed to look him over quickly. Not that he would usually mind, but there was just something different in the way she looked at him. He pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind for now. “I’ve only been here a few months. But long enough to get use to the other scents around this place.” He stated as he places his hands into his pocket still moving his left arm a bit slower than his right. He also glanced around the street slightly however it seemed that no one was paying them any mind. “You live here in Whitebridge or are you at the other town in Converse?”

Rin watched the guy cautiously but curiously, Although she hadn’t had any issues with the local wolves, she wasn’t sure if it was because she just hadn’t really met any or they weren’t too worried about her causing trouble in the area. Trouble was the last thing she wanted after fighting so hard to keep her secret in the larger cities she was used to, suddenly causing it in a small town sounded like a bad idea. When he tapped his nose and said he was used to the regular smells of local wolves Rin merely blinked for a moment then smiled. Suspicion confirmed: he was a wolf as well. “Very sneaky mister nose.” She giggled a little. “I was afraid the jacket would be the telling sign. It’s colder here than I anticipated it to be.” Or she was just a sissy, she would also accept that answer. Rain she could handle, but the snow constant snow was proving to be a little harder to deal with. Feeling much more relaxed than she anticipated she would have felt in the presence of another werewolf, she let herself glance around the area a bit to make sure they weren’t causing a problem for the foot traffic. Stopping dead center in a sidewalk in some places could get a person run over after all. “I’ve got a small apartment in Converse. I’m hoping to open a bakery there… or here in Whitebridge, but I’d prefer Converse. Less commuting and stuff.” She shrugged her shoulders under the puffy jacket. “What do you think of the area since you’ve been here?” She’d heard rumors about what could happen in small towns, but figured it couldn’t be any worse than a large city. As long as the people were at least nice to her face she could deal with backstabbing at another time. Given the fact he had been around for a few months, Rin figured either it was a decent place to stay for a while or he was stuck. She hoped it wasn’t the latter.

Dave hadn’t realized that he had given himself away as a wolf himself with his statement. In all honesty he thought that she was able to tell what he was by his scent as well. Perhaps she had a stuffy nose and wasn’t able to catch his scent? Or maybe she was a newly bitten werewolf. Which meant that he would have to be weary when around her. New wolves were hard to read and their emotions got the best of them at times. Thank the heavens he had been born as a werewolf. “The snow isn’t that bad at the moment and some of the locals are use to this weather.” He stated with a small shrug of his shoulders.
David had never thought about getting himself a job since leaving home. He was good at conning his money and getting large sums from the elderly. Yes it wasn’t something that he should be proud of however it was a living that was working out just fine. He rented a cheap apartment and didn’t bother with the heat all that much. So all he really had to pay for was his groceries, but when you hunt for your meals half the time even that bill was low. “Converse is okay I guess.” He sounded indifferent with his answer. Although for some reason he kept coming back to the place. He just kept telling himself that it was because of Lukan that he returned and nothing else. “I’m really a bad person to be asking about the place. Me and the packs….we don’t see eye to eye most of the time.”

Packs? As in, more than one pack? Rin had to admit, she was a little surprised to find out that there was more than one pack in the area. She supposed there was a lot of forestry and room from what she'd noticed so far but she didn't think the towns were big enough for multiple packs. "There's more than one pack here?" This was definitely interesting, what else could she learn from this other stray. "Why don't you get allong with them? If you don't mind my asking." She smiled a little sheepishly. Did they just discourage strays or was it a personal issue? "I mean, they're not gonna try and run me out of town or anything are they?" She laughed lightly, but was quite concerned about the possibilities. She was just looking to start fresh somewhere and maybe get some insight into what she really has become. She had managed to figure out the basics but really, there had to be more than just becoming a large wolf.

David shrugged his shoulders lightly at her small question. “It was one pack a few months ago, but yeah there are now two packs in the area.” Having been from bigger cities he was use to seeing multiple packs and several hundred strays. But He guessed that a small town like this it would be considered odd. “I have a thing against rules. That and trusting others to watch my back doesn’t sit very well with me.” It was something that he knew that he would have to break sometime in the future. But the scars left on him by his father were too deep and right now he wasn’t about to forget that the only person he could truly count on was himself.
He laughed as she continued her questioning. “I highly doubt they’ll try to run you out of town. In fact they might be eager to get you to join them.” Both packs knew where he stood on joining either of them, however he felt bad for other strays wondering into the area. No doubt there would be a competition to see who could rack up the most members now.

Rin couldn't help be feel fascinated over the information she was learning about the town and its resident wolves. Sure it wasn't a lot but it was a start, which was as good as anything. She giggled a bit as he told her about his particular dislike for rules. "Ahh, found a genuine American bad boy did I?" She giggled a little more and shook her head at her own childishness.
It eased her mind to know the locals weren't the 'get out of our territory' type and found her self curious about the idea of joining a pack. "You think so? Just adopt me out of the blue?" There had to be more to it then that, hadn't there? "I suppose it could be something to look into... still getting used to it and all." She mused aloud, tapping her finger against her chin.
